GaH, Da Purps is looking amazing.....i am truly impressed with the genes. I have never grown a purple strain yet but this might just be the one for me. Thanks for keeping us up to date with your busy schedule...it is much appreciated. Please post a harvest report so we can drool some more! Ice

Looks very nice GetAhead. I live close to the Bay area and da purps is all the rage around there, as a matter of fact I think it's a little over the top. It seems that da purps is all that anyone wants. Anyway, looks like a successful grow and I appreciate the nice photos.

End-o-Week 11
“Da Purps”
Clones Planted: 10/30/08
Day 77: 28 days veg/49 days flower

The seventh week of flowering has come and gone. The leaves are starting to be sucked dry of nutes and the room smells increasingly thick. I have stopped all feeding – still water only for the duration.

Some may notice three plants instead of four. I had an unfortunate accident last Sunday when a bar used to hold up some screening material fell and snapped “Jeannie” very low on the stalk. So, I just harvested her and decided to make a close smoke comparison between a younger plant and one left to develop more. Sometimes, the best results result from accidents, so we’ll see. :stick out tongue: Anyway, here are some pics of some of her buds. I really like the way they are drying a very nice golden with inner nuggets of purple, burgundy, vermillion, etc. I look forward to shooting macro pics of some fully cured bud in the light tent, later. The others plants' buds are getting SIGNIFICANTLY thicker and fuller in just the past several days. However, I am thinking maybe 1.5 oz. dry from Jeannie, only. And I had such "high" hopes for the old gal.

I do believe that these other three plants are very close. I note a few amber trichs here and there, so I am monitoring the trichs daily. I figure to harvest another plant this weekend, if the trichs aren’t turning too amber, too fast. Then, I will reap the other two ladies later and have at least three comparison stashes. If the trichs start to begin turning amber in much larger numbers, they all get the corn knife treatment!

Thanks to one and all. I was able to get a few answers at the dispensary yesterday because one of the the clone gurus, himself, was on the scene. We talking about strains and I was commenting that Da Purps plants I had were thick with upright branches, each FULL of fairly dense, compact flowers, but that the plants had not grown very tall (LST application notwithstanding). He explained that the strain was known for being a short grower with profuse buds indoors, but that it would stretch much higher if grown outdoors. He also mentioned that under fairly ideal indoor conditions, the flowering period is 49 - 63 days (his actual words were to start checking trichs after 49 and expect to be finished by 63). So, the trichs on mine are not lying! Given my experience with my four, I commented that it would be a good choice for a Sea-O-Green type of grow, and Mr. Guru confirmed that such was the "general idea" for this strain. I am not sure I will ever be able to have that kind of setup, but know others do. Anyway, I may be hauling out the ole corn picker sooner than later. Plus, my wife got a load of the last utility bill and the better part of discretion would be to pull the plug for awhile before it is summarily pulled for me. :stick out tongue:

Figuring a bud or three from the casualty plant will be good to stoke this weekend, before the remainder visits Mason's jar for a spot of curing. In short, I am hoping to do my share of staring then, too. Like the guy below, no doubt.

Also, I appreciate hearing about specific pictures. As a serious amateur photog, I am always interested (and quite often amazed) at which shot may strike a chord or a fancy more than others.

Hey GetAhead, I was giving you some rep, and adding a comment, when I drooled on the keyboard and the rep went through without the full comment. I meant to say, "Sorry to hear about Jeannie". This has been a great grow to view. Really, some very good pot porn. We are all waiting, somewhat impatiently, for a smoke report. Good going. Pappy

Thank you for the extremely kind words. I figure by your moniker that you are of an age to understand the boyhood-harkening significance of losing Jeannie in my careless incident. She was such a beauty with some of the nicest buds and stems of all-time. Oh, and the plant was pretty nice, too. (insert rim shot).

Iíll be here all week. Try the veal!

I honored the day by firing up a couple of bowls of Jeannie after it had dried to a snap over eight days and has now been curing for four days. It is a real quick hitting and extremely heady high. But, it still tastes rather foul. Smells great. Tastes exactly like smoking ground up stems (as I happen to recall from WAY back). I am hoping that curing turns the trick and/or the other three plants further removed from ferts will taste better.

Sound like chlorophyll nasty taste. A couple of months on the shelf will probably help that but if it continues you might want to try a bit water cured, but curing time should help ya.

Here we are at eight weeks - 4 weeks of veg and four weeks of flowering. It is amazing to watch a plant throw all it has into flower production.

Such amazing shots;your plants are beautiful, but the photographs are really something!
