hey there!

long time no see!  i hope you all are well.

i was leaving work today and snapped a picture out my car window and just wanted to share it with people.  im a grower at a hemp farm.  my duties dont pertain to the field crop, but its just an amazing site to see.

i grow the hemp in greenhouse that supply the farm, so im already working on next year.

the field right now is coming into bloom.  the plants are stretching and filling out that top.

a lot of the pictures i have are problems and oddities.

in general, the farm planted late. from feminized seed.

here are some pictures.

leaving the farm thru my car window.

freshly cultivated hemp field with a few chimeras

hey pete!

this is my third season, second hemp farm.  i love it!

i took a job a couple of years ago across the state at hemp farm near Alamosa, CO. I took my bus and lived on the farm for 2 years.  i was growing and extracting cbd.

i got tired of living on my bus and moved back to my old house this spring.  i got lucky and got the same work gig on a local hemp farm here.

the alamosa farm was all cutting propagated.  the sterling farm is all feminized seed.  going forward, i am trying to make a feminized seed crop for next year.

here are some videos from last year.

this is all for cbd.

it will be extracted or some form of smokeable..

the same company i work for started last year doing more custom harvest and processing than growing.  we have 1 processing facility that has 4 high volume CO2 extractors running.  we are building a 2nd ethanol extraction facility that should be running in a month or so.

i dont know the numbers, but the new ethanol extractor will runs tons per day.

we have 3 of 10 new combines coming from Canada, set up for hemp, and setting up mobile harvest crews.

to my knowledge, American hemp is mostly cbd.  it seems the new CBD market and smokeable CBD is where the initial American hemp farmers are heading. Right now CBD hemp biomass is about $40/lb, smokeable hand trimmed cbd is around $400/lb.

i do know of a small group of farmers that are growing both fiber and seed hemp, but all of that is to produce certified seed for sale for next year.  American hemp seed is rare and certified hemp seed even more so.

more pictures to share

first off,  1 of the new combines, getting decked out with graphics for promoting their custom harvest business.  it use to be john deere green, now, well .... its just green.

then some more of the fields, plants, greenhouses....

we had a real bad hail storm,  knocked out 4 of my greenhouses.  been doing demolition for the last few days.

we are building more over the winter, so just clearing the space for now.
