Hi all!

Been a while. Hope everyone is doing great!

I'm in an area with questionable/inconsistent power. my question is, is there something available that when my power is interrupted , it will keep power off for a while the lights/ballast cools.

I don't want to damage them when power comes back on. Most times, it goes off for a minute or two. But sometimes it's only for a few seconds. But it happens a lot.

Thanks!

If your using magnetic ballasts it's not a problem. If your using digital ballasts, you need surge suppressors on all of them. Also if it's a common occurrence you'll need to replace the surge suppressors every year or two, sine they can wear out.....

Thank you for you quick response KnuckleDragger !

I've noticed after it happened a second time that my 400 watt bulb just doesn't seem to be as bright as it used to be.

Yes electronic (Lumatek).

Are the surge suppressors all the same, or might there be one you recommend/prefer ?

Thanks!

If your just doing a small grow something like this http://www.homedepot...11VT3/203304289 will work fine. For serious grows You go into the breaker panel. http://www.homedepot...0SPDP/202562776

I'm going to try the power strip one first and if that doesn't do it I'll try the breaker.

Thank you!

Great question, and great info KD. Didn't know I needed one of those, and I've got the same spotty rural elec that it sounds like hatchet does.
