First off, i would like to say hello to all the green passion peeps....Im Dabs, pleasure to meet ya....took up this hobby about 3 years ago, and have been having a shit-ton of fun ever since....went through some hard times, and some easy times, but my grass has been greener here of late....So i figured with a membership to a new site, what better way to introduce myself and show where im at, than by doing a journal....so here goes.............

This time around ill be doing 9 plants...all NextGeneration Romulan....16 cutts taken from rom. mother....once rooted(bubblecloner)i selected the best 9 to go into the veg area....that was August 8th.....so they have been in veg a little over a month, vegged under 2, 400w, one mh and one hps, and will go into flower next weekend, after i chop my current grow....

My flower room is 8x8x9, room inside a room, in my basement....lighting will be 2- 1000w hps...eye horti's super hps....4" inline bringing fresh air in, and a 8" vortex cooling everything down and suckin it all out...this grow, i will be implementing co2 for the fist time....so it will be a new adventure for me, and will prob have some ?'s about it...

Nutes are botonicare cns17, grow, bloom and sweet, with cal-mag and liquid karma added, and clearex for the flush....yes this is a cheaper nutrient lineup, but i have had great results in the past using it...ive used the cheapest to the most expensive, and finally made up my mind that this is what im gonna continue to use and stick with...only thing i would give it up for will be when i switch to all organic................soil is a mix of 60% roots organic, 20% mendo mix and 20%perlite....flowering in 3gl pots....

If i missed anything, feel free to ask, and until next time, heres some pics.......sit back, relax and enjoy the show......Dabs

i hit send before i finished my journal title, anyway to fix that???????

Hey guys...the romulan are chugging right along......I usually run my lights 18/6 in my veg area, and recently switched to 24/0 for these romulans, just to see if there is a noticable effect on the plants...So far, really no difference has been noticed on my part...But im in the lab everyday...My wife who graces me with her presence in there maybe once a week, stated that she thinks it makes a big difference....idk...jury is still out on this one....im not writing one of as better then the other, i just need to experiment more....However, growth is beautiful on these roms, and thats all im worried about.....And im noticing that this is probably the skunkiest strain ive ever had during veg...Super stoked to have this strain in my arsenal... so far....Now lets see how she puts out in flower....Heres a couple shots of themAttached File  014 (Small).JPG   42.3KB   29 downloadsAttached File  012 (Small).JPG   49.42KB   42 downloads took a walk this evening to go feed my outdoor ladies and snapped a few shots of those also......enjoy....Dabs Attached File  004 (Small).JPG   52.42KB   41 downloadsAttached File  005 (Small).JPG   45.08KB   38 downloadsAttached File  007 (Small).JPG   36.71KB   40 downloadsAttached File  011 (Small).JPG   25.38KB   53 downloads and heres what has kept me busy last night and this morning....Attached File  010 (Small).JPG   50.97KB   56 downloadsAttached File  008 (Small).JPG   53.6KB   59 downloads.....almost doneAttached File  009 (Small) (2).JPG   30.09KB   44 downloads edit....if you have been wondering why every post i put up is edited by me, im still learning the system with re-sizing and uploading my pics....im getting there!!!

Great to see people growing great old school weed like Romulan and I think you'll enjoy it. It looks like the plants are doing great. As for for the light schedule, if you have enough light you really shouldn't need to run them more than 18-20 hours a day because beyond a certain point the plant reaches saturation and can't use any more.

Thanks for stopping by kitty, and you to Pete.....i pray that im blessed with a pheno like striders....i just took a look at his journals and they are some beautiful buds that hes grown.... I fed them last night, and went through and did a final, light trimming on some lower branches....just thinned them out a little bit...all the romulans were topped around 14 days ago and no training other than that has been done...i have my current harvest still drying in my flower room but will be coming out of there tonight.....I like to bomb the room and scrub it down between every harvest, so ill be doing that today, and then tommorow or monday, the rom will be going into flower....As i stated earlier, this is my first run of the romulan, and im excited to see what phenotype im working with....if she anything like she was in veg, to flower, im in for a simple, feed and sit back and watch type grow....fingers crossed!!!heres a couple group shots of them...these will be the last pics before they go into flower.... hope you all enjoy and stay tuned....the fun is just beginning....a big thank you to all who have took the time to view this journal....Im taking a big dab for all of you's.....Dabs Attached File  008 (Small).JPG   35.48KB   21 downloadsAttached File  009 (Small) (2).JPG   58.03KB   25 downloadsAttached File  007 (Small).JPG   66.4KB   27 downloadsAttached File  006 (Small) (2).JPG   63.5KB   31 downloadsAttached File  005 (Small).JPG   70.78KB   31 downloadsAttached File  004 (Small).JPG   73.64KB   32 downloadsAttached File  003 (Small) (2).JPG   67.58KB   32 downloadsAttached File  001 (Small).JPG   74.7KB   25 downloads Attached File  002 (Small) (2).JPG   79.43KB   31 downloads And a few pics of my outdoor for your viewing pleasure....enjoy....Dabs......Attached File  001 (Small).JPG   33.36KB   37 downloadsAttached File  002 (Small).JPG   31.29KB   41 downloadsAttached File  003 (Small).JPG   54.23KB   39 downloadsAttached File  004 (Small).JPG   43.66KB   33 downloads

Quick question....as most people probably know, alot of Roots Organic soil, comes pre-infested with gnats...yay!!!! Anyway, was downstairs doing a few things, and noticed a few of the little buggers flying around...not a major infestation, but they are there.....i set out sticky traps and next feeding, ill drench the roots with go-gnats.....My question is, is it ok to still make the switch to flower with the gnats, or should i try to eliminate them before i go into flower? They arent a major concern this far into the plants life, are they?

No problem teddy....i agree about bud porn is always great....i love seeing what my fellow growers have going on....
As for the gnats, i kinda figured it wasn't TOO big of a deal, but need to be taken care of...ok got that part...
but i can go ahead with the flip...cool...ill be doing that on sunday nightPosted Image

Sand...duh....i totally forgot sand helped keep them out of the soil....ill grab a bag and cover the tops of pots....cheap and effective...i like that.
Thanks for the reading mate....stay tuned....Dabs

Ola Dabs! Good porn! You can also get dimetacious earth at a swimming pool supply house, a layer on top, scraped away when watering then replaced after will cut the wee fekers right good,,,, pat it down, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Dang Roots and most bags seem to have the eggs,,,, most damage is to young roots, they can destroy a rack of young plants... I see one, I got the cedar oil or go gnats on em... Lovin the outdoor.,,, miss it, first summer in near 40 years without but popo here makes it a no go for the sun show... Nice show .. Pete

hey teddy....thanks for the encouraging words.....the Co2 is a first for me, this go round....so well see how that turns out...im just about done having my room sealed up, as best a possible.....and with the co2, how i already had my exhaust fan set up, wouldnt work....i have to shut it off, everytime im pumpin in the co2, or else it will just suck it right out and be a complete waste of money.....but the problem with that, is when i have to shut my exhaust off, my room soars up to about 88-89 degrees real fast...i know plants getting co2 can handle a little bit hotter of a temperature, but not that hot.....so my only option is to put an air conditioning unit in to cool the room down....i was looking at ac's and man oh man, the stand-alone air conditioners,(ones that are portable and dont need a hole in the wall)were pretty darn expensive for my budget....but once again, the ganja gods answered my prayers and it so happens that my wifes girlfriend is selling this one right here>>>>Air Conditioner....its new in box....i guess they need money pretty bad because her husband said its mine for 100$....im going to pick it up tomorow afternoon when im done work....SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!Posted Imageim pretty darn happy that find....i owe it all to my better half though..she always finds the good deals...peace my GP friends....Dabs

If you've got your grow pretty well tuned CO2 can definitely help and high levels DO increase heat tolerance into the low 90's, should be an interesting experiment for you.

wow...very interesting knuck....i knew if your dialed in fairly well, then you build a nice heat tolerance with that, but i though mid to upper 80's was the limit....not into the 90's....very cool and great info to know....do you run co2 in your grows? question??? is it still ok while running co2, to keep your canopy temp in the 77-80 range, or should you actually run a little higher temp with the co2?

Never used CO2 myself but I've got a friend whose an ag researcher down at Texas A&M and they do a lot of work with enhanced growing methods. As for temp it can increase heat tolerance but you don't have to run it hot for it to help, 75-80 will do fine.

Hey friends...i need somebody with a little backround in electricity to help me out on this one...I picked up an air conditioner today and got it home....pulled it out of the box and realized that the dern power cord is only 3 feet long....well, when i built my room, i put the outlets up about 7 foot of the ground...dont ask me why, but i did....so my question is, if i go buy a heavy gauge extension cord, can i run the AC on a extension cord??....the AC is 8000btu's, if thats a help...if anymore info is needed, please feel free to ask....thanks a million in advance...Dabs

Thanks a million again Knuck.....ill get that exact one actually....i only need about 4foot, so that will be plenty and some, if i want to move the AC around, which most likely will need to happen from time to time im sure....And just to make sure, the number in front of whatever gauge wire it is....the lower the number, the heavier the wire, correct???
