Every year women spend millions of dollars on “anti-aging” products! They rub various ointments and creams into their faces trying to forestall the relentless effects of time. Time always wins. The problem is that aging starts on the inside, and the creams only can do so much from the outside. In my ramblings around at PubMed, I came across an interesting little abstract- Early onset of aging-like changes is restricted to cognitive abilities and skin structure in Cnr1(-/-) mice. (abst – 2011) http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/20724033 To put it at its simplest, specially bred mice that lack CB1 receptors looked older much sooner than normal “wild-type” mice and went senile faster! Their internal organs didn’t age any faster, but an aged appearance, hearing loss and mental decline began in mid-life, not old age! Other studies have noted this accelerated mental aging effect when there is a dearth of CB1s- Early age-related cognitive impairment in mice lacking cannabinoid CB1 receptors. (full – 2005) http://www.ncbi.nlm....95/?tool=pubmed These Cn1 (-/-) mice give us an example of a worst case scenario of a lack of functional CB1 receptors can do! They are also referred to as “knock-out” mice. Here is what happens when there are too few, or no, CB1 receptors- Loss of Cannabinoid Receptor CB1 Induces Preterm Birth (full - 2008) http://www.ncbi.nlm....?tool=pmcentrez Loss of cannabinoid receptor 1 accelerates intestinal tumor growth (full - 2008) http://www.ncbi.nlm....58/?tool=pubmed Turned-Off Cannabinoid Receptor Turns On Colorectal Tumor Growth(news - 2008) http://www.scienceda...80801074056.htm Worsening of Huntington disease phenotype in CB1 receptor knockout mice. (abst – 2011) http://www.unboundme..._knockout_mice_ Genes differentially expressed in CB1 knockout mice: involvement in the depressive-like phenotype. (abst – 2010) http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/20692131 Deficiency of type 1 cannabinoid receptors worsens acute heart failure induced by pressure overload in mice. (abst – 2011) http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/21785110 Increased Severity of Stroke in CB1 Cannabinoid Receptor Knock-Out Mice (full - 2002) http://www.jneurosci...etype=HWCIT#Top Defective adult neurogenesis in CB1 cannabinoid receptor knockout mice. (full - 2004) http://molpharm.aspe...t/66/2/204.long Pretty scary! So what can be done? The answer lies in this little gem of “Sci-Speak”! Nutritional omega-3 deficiency abolishes endocannabinoid-mediated neuronal functions. (abst – 2011) http://www.unboundme...onal_functions_ Granny’s translation- “The US diet sucks big time and we are fat, undernourished, and crazy because of it. We get WAY too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3. Not getting enough Omega 3 can make you crazy because without it, the CB1 cannabinoid receptors in your brain aren’t made right- a chunk that is supposed to be attached, isn’t! Broken receptors give you “impaired emotional behavior”. So we think it’s the low Omega 3 diet is making the US totally nuts!” (You guys getting the idea WHY I am constantly telling you to take your Omega 3? The American diet has almost NO Omega 3!) Now those dudes were focusing on “just” the mental effects in their study, but as you have seen, the physical effects of not having enough healthy CB1s are pretty heavy, too! I believe the key to not aging rapidly is the combination of Omega 3 and cannabis! You need the Omega 3 to make those healthy working CB1s and then they can be stimulated by THC and your body’s own Anandamide to work their “anti-aging magic”! And it is not just your face that will benefit! In Alzheimer’s (and some other diseases) your brain actually shrinks! Omega 3 can reverse this trend! Omega-3 fatty acids increase brain volume: while reversing many aspects of neurologic aging. (full – 2010) http://www.thefreeli......-a0237529250 Now one last fact about the CB1 receptors- they are the ones that get you high on cannabis! Increasing the number of functional CB1 will improve your high! It is not a quick fix sort of thing- you need to take Omega 3 for at least a month for it to begin working! But I think it is worth it- you age slower, all those bad things may be prevented, and you may get higher! Good sources of Omega 3 are fish oil, wild fish, flax seed oil and hemp seed oil! Yep! Good old cannabis, besides getting you high and healing you through the CB1 receptors, also produces hemp seed oil to make the healthy CB1s you need to get high and heal with cannabis! So, to look good and age slower, grab yourself a bottle of Omega 3 and keep on toking! Granny

I just turned 50, and most people say i don't look a year over 49!hehe Thank you, Cannabis! I hear walnuts are also a great source of Omega 3. Here you can buy milk without the milk fat and with Omega 3 oil from fish and walnuts.

Hemp seed oil makes a passable salad dressing! Hemp seed oil, good cider vinegar, plenty of garlic and red pepper flakes, some Italian seasoning and maybe a bit of bud! Let it sit for a day or two to let the flavors blend.

I didn't realize the hemp seed oil you can buy has the same healthful benefits as the hemp oil you have to make yourself. Am I wrong?

Kind regards

Hi stella :) welcome to Green Passion!!! What their saying about the hemp seed oil is, It's a good source for O-Mega3,, The hemp oil and the hemp seed oil are not the same... I'll look for it, but there is an easier way to make the oil then the RS. I have never made it myself, You can find more on the oil in the Farmacy forum... Peace
