I was sitting waiting with the hubby at one of his doctor's appointments, and noted as we got seated a "drug rep" leaving the office toting a small suitcase on wheels. About 15 minutes later another "drug rep" came in and was ushered into the back (with no waiting, unlike us poor patients stuck reading DiabetesToday for half an hour :( ).

I got to thinking about just how many "drug reps" a doctor may see in a month! So many reps all handing out free samples and pitching their drugs.

How many "MMJ reps" does your doctor see a month?

Guess what, folks? He sees a "MMJ rep" every time you go in to see your doctor!

YOU are the MMJ rep!

Take in a study or two with you every visit. Doesn't have to be on your ailment! Just something "interesting" that you thought he might like to see! Or if you have a bone-headed doctor stuck in the 1940s, just send the abstracts to him, a few each week, for MONTHS! muahaha

A Canadian survey of doctors showed that MOST of what the doctors knew about cannabis came from their patients! Remember that cannabis is a prescription drug in Canada- federally legal!

With my List (that first link in my sig), you become the "drug reps" for MMJ! (Many studies have news articles about them, so you can read the easy stuff and let the doc deal with the PubMed version! ) Let's level the playing ground! Educate your doctor and give "big pharma" some competition!

This WebMD article is a good place to start! (see sentence #2)

Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's (news - 2006)

We got the better medicine! :pns:

:Legalize it!: Medical patients, REPRESENT! :(

Hi Granny; thank you for all the work you have done. Another thing I can think of doing is print up some jma articles and put them into the magazines without anyone knowing. Still inform the drs. A friend went through chemo with the r.s. oil and she had to tell the tech what thc was. Education is the key I tell someone every day about the wonders of cannabis. Slowly but surly it is happening the word is getting out there. Keep it up everybody Nsana

That sounds like a good idea. My List has several WebMd articles that make good reading. Give me a sec........

Teen Pot Smoking Won't Lead to Other Drugs as Adults (news - 2010)

Marijuana Ingredients Slow Invasion by Cervical and Lung Cancer Cells http://www.webmd.com...er-in-test-tube

Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's

Chemicals in Marijuana May Fight MRSA

Marijuana Chemical Fights Hardened Arteries

Marijuana's Active Ingredient Targets Deadly Brain Cancer

Marijuana May Fight Lung Tumors

Marijuana Ingredient May Cut Fibromyalgia Pain

Cannabis Relieves Multiple Sclerosis Pain (news - 2004)

Pot Chemical May Curb Inflammation (news – 2007)

Pot-Based Drug Promising for Arthritis

Heavy Marijuana Use Doesn't Damage Brain (news – 2003)

Marijuana Smoking Doesn't Kill

WebMD is so dang respectable and well-known that I use the articles often. Got them in a little file.

Other ways....

I have also slipped in small "book markers" with "Want MMJ Studies? Run a search for Granny Storm Crow's List" and slipped them into books on cannabis at the local community college library. lol

A couple of dispensaries now have a print-up of the list (2 packages of paper!)for their customer's use. Patients learn that cannabis can actually treat "Uncle Charlie's diabetic retinopathy" and then tell "Charlie"!

A "smoke Shop" in Canada did them one better, the owner set up a computer and printer set to the List. He says it brings in customers who want to educate their doctors.

The owner once told me that one man was literally in tears when he found there were several PubMed studies that proved that cannabis could improve his condition and confirmed his own observations that cannabis helped him- his doctor had told him it would worsen his condition and to stop immediately.

The poor man was torn between what his body "told" him and what his doctor said! :( The doctor got a big handful of studies next visit! :(

How you use my List is up to you, but please use it! muahaha

I have used Granny's list a few times to educate two of my doctors,, Once they got a hold of your list, along with a few other things about Marijuana that I had given them, these two doctors were changed people once they gave it a chance and looked into what I was trying to talk to them about... They are all for me getting my mmj card but, it can't come from them because this health center were I go for my health care just so happens to be federally funded... But at least there are a few more people who are on our side!!!!! Every little bit helps!!!! Thank You Granny

beautiful articles Granny...very helpful indeed !!!!!...i called my doctor not long ago, and his office administrator answered...i asked her of he'd write me a script, i knew he wouldn't because MJ's illegal here. she told me this, so i told her that i'd grow my own. she said, i didn't hear that !!!!! lol...thank you for the idea of taking an article with me.

One thing you are missing that the other drug reps provide is bribery.... These drug reps purchase hundreds of dollars worth of breakfast, brunches, lunches, and dinners in order to convince these doctors to hear their sales pitch and prescribed their drugs.
