IF YOUR RECOMMENDATION IS SIGNED BY EITHER A LPN OR A RN IT IS NOT VALID AND YOU ARE AT RISK OF JAIL!

PLEASE CHECK YOUR RECOMMENDATION IF ISSUED SINCE JUNE 2010.

There seems to be some confusion amongst some of the clinics and dispensaries about who can write/issue valid recommendations in Washington state. Some of them are using LPNs or RNs and those people are NOT authorized to write or issue recommendations. The only nurses that can write/issue recommendation are advanced registered nurse practitioners -- ARNPs!

If your recommendation is signed by either a LPN or RN, either contact the clinic to get a new one signed by an authorized provider or get a valid one from a different clinic, whichever you choose.

If anyone else has a recommendation signed by either a LPN or RN, please PM me so that I can monitor the different clinics responses to the issue. Thank you.

Here is the complete list of which health care providers can write/issue VALID recommendations in Washington state, taken directly from the Department of Health's website in their Medical Marijuana FAQ section:

What type of health care providers can recommend marijuana for qualifying conditions?

The following providers may recommend marijuana:

* medical doctors (MDs)
* physician assistants (PAs)
* osteopathic physicians (DOs)
* osteopathic physician assistants (OA)
* naturopathic physicians (ND)
* advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs)

found at hxxp://www.doh.wa.gov/hsqa/medical-marijuana/FAQmore.htm#Providers (change the hxxp to http or just start at www)
