Pete.... Thanks sooo much for posting the pictorial! It helps a great deal! I will be attempting an oil run here in the next two weeks as I have WAY TOO MUCH to use after this first grow. I am anxious to hear how the second "wash" "soak" goes.....good solid data to see what can be have from the "leftovers"!!! AWESOME!!! Sandia :)

Cool! Thanks guys! Just finished baking 70 muffins and giving them out to my patients...with of course my perfunctory tasted test. It was a hard day for sure... Second rinse is gonna run for 24 hours, I also added another matching qty of 1st rinse stuff from a previous 2 extended soak runs of 72 hour duration so any qty I extract will be divided by 2 for accuracy. I used a plastic teaspoon to measure the muffins and used 1 1/2 teaspoons of oil per box of mix. Man... this was a long, long day but Tim and Clem are cool now... Peace! Pete

Extraction continues after all material is strained through a coffee filter in a smaller strainer and into a stainless container..

When all is run through, there is a sediment that is discarded.

Here is the strained filters and the sludge...

And the ISO fluid strained, put into the container and placed on high outside on the rice cooker. The weight of this container is 13.6 ounces. There were 7 cups of fluid. Setting was at high, 170 degrees F.

The first side traces of the oil showed on the 2 cup mark and is shown here

The extraction vessel remained on high until the bubbles were no longer a green "foaming froth" but pockets of same and the control was put to "warm' This mixture remained on warm, stirring with a plastic blade until all traces of green colour were gone in the bubbles. There is a sweet oil smell and no trace of alcohol will be detected.

Now for the dirty details...

12 ounces of mid to high grade bud extracted to 44.8 grams of oil.

I still have a second rinse going and will extract that seperately to see if any additional oil can be gained.

Hope you enjoyed this process.. now to the baking!

Peace!
Pete

Just great, Pete! I have a question: Do you wait until all liquid is cooked off, before scraping out the oil, or, do yoiu scrape as you go?

Hoak

P.S. Why am I not authorized to give 'thanks' on posts?

I finished the second rinse yesterday. I covered the extracted bud again with 96 ounces of ISO and soaked for 26 hours.

I repeated the straining and filtering process.

I extracted the fluid and gained an additional 14 grams of oil.

Total extraction from 12 ounces came in at 58.4 grams oil.

Peace!
Pete

GP.... the consistency is the same, taste is the same when smoked, good response from my brain from 2 hits of bud with a drop of the oil... I see not difference. I am removing the majority of the oil and will bake a box of muffins with the residue.. I don't feel I will have anything but a good med. Pete
