I have made QWIOS (Quick Wash) ISO oil , but I have only left the herb in the ISO for a maximum of 10 minuets ...
I use a large Blender and 2 oz of herb, with a quart of 91% ISO .
I was under the impression that all chemical exchange from plant to ISO would happen in the first 2 to 10 minuets.
I will wait with you to learn of your resultz.
WayKool Props to ya helpin with your MS friends!

It is about making use of every scrap. We are all learning here and this is one other thing we learn about by comparing our experience and adding to the knowledge base on this subject. It is all paying it forward, as Pete is so good at doing.

So I just hadda let the soak go longer... too busy to extract last night so this AM after 86 hours in the big pot...
I got set up... two pots, one for the fluid and another for the bud matter, one antique ricer to press the fluid out and a strainer...

I poured the major portion of the fluid through the strainer into a large stainless bowl.

Next I take the plant matter and load the basket for the rice press and squeeze the fluid out.

This leaves a compressed disck in the basket

I put this in the holding bowl

Here we have the first extraction in the pan, bud squeezed and in another container

Now I have put the extracted bud back in the big pot for a second rinse, looks just like the first shot so I won't bother taking a pic. This was covered with 96oz of ISO and will sit for around 6 hours, then it will be drained as above .
The extracted fluid is sitting now, in a couple hours I will strain it through and post the next steps to my oil extraction.

Extraction continues after all material is strained through a coffee filter in a smaller strainer and into a stainless container..

When all is run through, there is a sediment that is discarded.

Here is the strained filters and the sludge...

And the ISO fluid strained, put into the container and placed on high outside on the rice cooker. The weight of this container is 13.6 ounces. There were 7 cups of fluid. Setting was at high, 170 degrees F.

The first side traces of the oil showed on the 2 cup mark and is shown here

The extraction vessel remained on high until the bubbles were no longer a green "foaming froth" but pockets of same and the control was put to "warm' This mixture remained on warm, stirring with a plastic blade until all traces of green colour were gone in the bubbles. There is a sweet oil smell and no trace of alcohol will be detected.

Now for the dirty details...
12 ounces of mid to high grade bud extracted to 44.8 grams of oil.
I still have a second rinse going and will extract that seperately to see if any additional oil can be gained.
Hope you enjoyed this process.. now to the baking!
