Sweet Mix of Med PETE :rules:

I have made QWIOS (Quick Wash) ISO oil , but I have only left the herb in the ISO for a maximum of 10 minuets ...
I use a large Blender and 2 oz of herb, with a quart of 91% ISO .

I was under the impression that all chemical exchange from plant to ISO would happen in the first 2 to 10 minuets.

I will wait with you to learn of your resultz.

WayKool Props to ya helpin with your MS friends!

Gouphy, a number of us that have tried this have found a huge rise in yield with longer soaks. Our object is to get as much out of every gram as we can, to help people. And learning that the chlorophyll is good for us, and not harmful, has increased the time of the soak. The rise in yield is, depending on the type and product soaked, raised a third or more by the longer soak. That is very significant. This means a third more people can be helped and/or this med will last that much longer for those that need it.

It is about making use of every scrap. We are all learning here and this is one other thing we learn about by comparing our experience and adding to the knowledge base on this subject. It is all paying it forward, as Pete is so good at doing.

Peace

So I just hadda let the soak go longer... too busy to extract last night so this AM after 86 hours in the big pot...

I got set up... two pots, one for the fluid and another for the bud matter, one antique ricer to press the fluid out and a strainer...

Attached File  EXT1.jpg   49.1KB   52 downloads

I poured the major portion of the fluid through the strainer into a large stainless bowl.

Attached File  EXT2.jpg   52.47KB   57 downloads

Next I take the plant matter and load the basket for the rice press and squeeze the fluid out.

Attached File  EXT3.jpg   59.13KB   55 downloads

This leaves a compressed disck in the basket

Attached File  EXT4.jpg   59.53KB   49 downloads

I put this in the holding bowl

Attached File  EXT5.jpg   57.44KB   49 downloads

Here we have the first extraction in the pan, bud squeezed and in another container

Attached File  EXT6.jpg   49.54KB   48 downloads

Now I have put the extracted bud back in the big pot for a second rinse, looks just like the first shot so I won't bother taking a pic. This was covered with 96oz of ISO and will sit for around 6 hours, then it will be drained as above .

The extracted fluid is sitting now, in a couple hours I will strain it through and post the next steps to my oil extraction.

Peace!
Pete

Good explanation Pete....I even have one of those ricers......somewhere. When done, are you going to filter it sweetie? I do it through sheer fabric....just curious...just explaining, not complaining.... Is that the strongest iso you can get there Pete? I get mine from Cosco. Not sure if they would have the same strength there but I get 99% pure here. It is worth a try. I am also going to ask a friend with a health food store if they can get it by the gallon. Peeps, ask where you deal regularly, I mean a health food store. Many people are getting into making extractions etc so health food stores are now more likely to sell this than they used to be.

Extraction continues after all material is strained through a coffee filter in a smaller strainer and into a stainless container..

Attached File  EXT7.jpg   65.12KB   68 downloads

When all is run through, there is a sediment that is discarded.

Attached File  EXT8.jpg   44.98KB   71 downloads

Here is the strained filters and the sludge...

Attached File  EXT9.jpg   47.44KB   75 downloads

And the ISO fluid strained, put into the container and placed on high outside on the rice cooker. The weight of this container is 13.6 ounces. There were 7 cups of fluid. Setting was at high, 170 degrees F.

Attached File  EXT10.jpg   45.2KB   76 downloads

The first side traces of the oil showed on the 2 cup mark and is shown here

Attached File  EXT11.jpg   32.8KB   81 downloads

The extraction vessel remained on high until the bubbles were no longer a green "foaming froth" but pockets of same and the control was put to "warm' This mixture remained on warm, stirring with a plastic blade until all traces of green colour were gone in the bubbles. There is a sweet oil smell and no trace of alcohol will be detected.

Attached File  EXT12.jpg   47.69KB   77 downloads

Now for the dirty details...

12 ounces of mid to high grade bud extracted to 44.8 grams of oil.

I still have a second rinse going and will extract that seperately to see if any additional oil can be gained.

Hope you enjoyed this process.. now to the baking!

Peace!
Pete
