It has come to the attention of GP that pictures exceeding the below mentioned dimensions and file size pose a big load to the server and efficiency of the site.

The maximum pic size we are striving for are the following (jpegs):

1280 X 1024
And
2 Mb's

Pic resizing as an automated process by the GP server makes the website to run not as smooth as we would like.

So please, resize the pixel count and make sure that the file size of the photos you are uploading match the above criteria.

There are a couple threads to enlighten you on pic resizing

Resizing your photos with GIMP

Resizing your photos with Power Toys

If you have a Mac, you can resize using the "preview" software already installed, by clicking Tools, then Adjust Size.

If you have any questions or recommendations, please feel free to post them here..

Thanks for the help!

PS: For other file types, you can check the specs on the Manage attachment Attachment key..

I've found using the Paint software works really well for file resizing. If you run Windows, click the start button, then click All Programs, Accessories, Paint. Once Paint is open, click the file open button and open the picture. Click the re-size button and type in 30 where it says 100 and hit enter. Save the file and it's resized. Can easily re-size 20 pics in less then 3 minutes.

even better...

...if you have ms office, and most of us do...just use microsoft office picture manager.

you can select multiple files at once and use the "edit picture" button to resize all, then save. i can resize 20pics in 30secs :D:
