coco-nut oil is one of the top 3 on my list!:) Caster oil is another th@ absorbs through the skin fast, possibly as a massage oil carrier. coco-nut oil is about $40.00 AU per kilo/liter here, so I've gotta save for it. muA

Hello: Thank you for all the wonderful info regarding Hemp Root Balm. I have a question. Would the root from non-medicinal Hemp work? Thank you in advance for any info.

I would think so...cannabis is higher in thc and Hemp is higher in cbd's? {anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong} but they should still have alkaloids in the roots.

It is the alkaloids th@ we are after from the roots....as far as I know there is bugger all thc in the roots.

Hemp roots MAY have a stronger, weaker or equivalent amount of helpful alkaloids in them.

Let us know if you try it :)

I found this about cannabis roots

and I remember an article among my mags...somewhere... (TreatingYourself?) about making cannabis root flour. I'll look it up later.

I just clicked it in your post- and got to the letter!

In case others are having troubles here's the text- sorry about the weird columns and the big space- but that's how it copied! It also won't let me add anything at the bottom!

Effects of Cannabis Roots
On the Heart
To the Editor.p=m-Rodger (217:1705,
1971) mentioned a not widely known
cardiac action of an extract of Can-
nabis roots in whiskey (about 45% al-
cohol). We report here our experi-
ments on the supposed action of these
roots in 50% alcohol, diluted to 18.4
mg/ml in 4% ethanol in water. This
solution contained 18.4 mg dry sub-
stance/ml. This was injected in the
perfusion fluid of an isolated guinea
pig heart in vitro (Langendorff tech-
nique). Injection of 0.1 ml of the prep-
aration was followed by bradycardia;
the rate dropped from 240 beats/min-
ute to 60 beats/minute. A quick re-
covery was seen when administration
was stopped.
In our next experiment we studied
the effect of root extract on the elec-
trocardiogram of three guinea pigs
under urethane anesthesia. The prep-
aration was infused in the jugular
vein at the rate of 0.2 ml/min. After
some time bradycardia developed
with prolongation of the PR interval
and the QRS complex and inversion
of the T wave (Fig 1). When the infu¬
sion was stopped the ECG wave re¬
covered quickly.
These phenomena reminded us of
the effects of excess of potassium on
the heart. Therefore, we recorded also
the ECG in four guinea pigs during
Page 2
infusion of potassium chloride in 4%
alcohol. Bradycardia was observed, a
prolonged PR interval and QRS com¬
plex and T wave inversion appeared
in about 50 minutes (Fig 2). After a
few minutes the heart stopped, but
recovered soon after the infusion was
discontinued.
We wanted to know if the potas¬
sium content of the root extract could
be responsible for the cardiac effects
and, therefore, the K-content was de¬
termined flame-photometrically. The
K-content of the root extract ap¬
peared to be 140 millimol/liter. The

ter potassium chloride administration.

dose of potassium, which our cavies
received in the Cannabis extract, was
in agreement with the quantity ad¬
ministered as potassium chloride
(Table) until cardiac effects became

exerts any influence on the heart, this
is caused by the potassium content
and, thus, is not specific.

Autopsies
To the Editor.p=m-Beautyis in the eye of
the beholder; the value of an autopsy
is in the intelligence of the prosector
and in the concerned search for
knowledge of the clinician.
Without autopsies the same mis-
take is repeated for 20 years and
called experience.

creditation has bowed to the lazy pa-

The Cardiothoracic
Ratio
To the Editor.p=m-Iam writing a letter
to protest the first "cardiovascular
anachronisms" mentioned in the ar-
ticle by that title by Dr. Marvin L.
Daves in The Journal (224:879,1973).
The first anachronism that Dr.
Daves would like deleted concerns the
Page 4
cardiothoracic ratio. I would agree
that probably this largely applies to
chest films, but as I do it by cardiac
fluoroscopy with orthodiagraphic at-
tachments, I have found for many
years that the cardiothoracic ratio
can be relied on if it is consistently
and carefully done.
In my own patients I fluoroscop-
ically take into account the motion of
the diaphragm, the condition of the
lungs, and the general and cardiac
health of the individual. My technique
is to look fluoroscopically at the entire
chest first and have the patient take
one or two deep breaths. I observe
the position of the diaphragm and
whether or not the left leaf is raised
by overmuch gas in the splenic flex-
ure of the colon or the stomach. I al¬
ready know any particular change in
weight that there has been, which
also plays a role, of course, in the posi¬
tion of the diaphragm. Then, in deep
held inspiration and with the use of a
central ray with movable tube, I or-
thodiagraphically record the internal
borders of the thorax on each side and
the external borders of the heart on
each side, using the same points on
each occasion in patients from year to
year or month to month.
The fraction thus obtained has
great value and has helped me enor¬
mously in my practice for about forty
years. Those who have decried it have
Page 5
not, I believe, had experience such as
mine using this special technique.
Using the cardiothoracic ratio, I do
measure to the first decimal place, but
I don't pay much attention to the dif¬
ference of 1 or 2 mm. Thus, if the
transverse diameter of the heart
varies only 1 or 2 mm from previous
or later measurements, I ignore such
a small deviation; but if the differ¬
ence amounts to .5 cm or even in some
cases 1, 2, or 3 cm, this is important.
Physical examination or usual x-ray
film cannot deal so accurately with
this problem.
Incidentally, the fluoroscopic exam¬
ination is very valuable overall for
many reasons and is much more im¬
portant than the x-ray film, except
for filing for reference.

I sure will, MediUsa!

Thanks a mil. 'cause This is a real breakthrough to me.

Funny how a little finger joint can keep one awake all nite.

The other nite had to take 3 rice sized tibs of HealingHemp Oil...after a wild nite on the internet finally conked out as the sun came up.

I lost a whole day (but did have a heck of a night).

I'm tempted to pull one out of the stinky compost pile tomorrow
