SK, I got a load of compost from my local municipality last year that was so hot it killed all my seedlings, made a raised bed and filled it with this compost very hi in Nitrogen, seed cracked, sprouted, and died.
I know I have been looking forward to this for awhile now, I have been saving seeds all year and have almost 10 grams of mature seeds to plant. I'm thinking about what to do with them all, of course there is the parks and stuff, old industrial plots that dont get tended much, taking my canoe down the river and planting them along the bank. The idea I am really liking tho is to go to the top soil place, where you take your truck and and get your own load, not all bagged up, just off the pile, (of course getting some dirt since I need it anyway and so I'd have a reason to be there) but then as I'm leaving tossing the seeds out into the dirt pile, that way when everyone gets soil and takes it home they will get spread out all over.
So whats everyone's plans this year?
So be sure its top soil and not composttwocents.gif

I've been spreading mine up and down I-95 from D.C to FLA.
So if you're in the area keep an EYE out for my babies.
Last year they said they found 1000 plants just off the interstate in Winsor N.C. LOL
More like 100 lying S.O.B.'s (they found what they were supposed too) LOL
Wait til this summer it's going to be a blast watching them run up and down 95 pulling up plants.
Excellent Johnny, I'll be frequenting this stretch the next couple of months and will add some plants to your efforts (and snatch a bud if i get lucky at a rest stop!).

Who's original idea was it? Was it JAngels? Or 'GreenPassions', or is this an idea that has floated around for generations? Was it first mentioned in high times - or has it never been mentioned in such magazines? I am doing a little 'research' on the subject, and would appreciate ANY help! I like to be as informed as possible when advocating an idea.

So I saved them all year - And now my bucket bottom is covered in seeds! A WHOLE YEARS WORTH! This 4/20 Will start my New Tradition off!
I will sprinkle the seeds every 4/20 that I have saved from the previous year! I LOVED J's Idea of taking handfuls to the nursery to "flower-Shop"! Stick a few here... A few there... You NEVER KNOW what will make it, and get re-planted! 1 Things for sure... The nursery it's self will pamper your little seedling from the day you leave it, until the day it is discovered! And who knows... HOW MANY WILL GO TO A NEW HOME IN A FRESHLY PREPARED GARDEN AND BE RE-PLANTED? If sprinkled in between some marigolds or something, they would get pretty big before anyone noticed a difference in plant species? Or planted directly in the middle of some large patio potted arangements - Unsuspecting customers would think it was supposed to be growing right out the middle... They might even 'let it go, and wait for it to flower?' Who knows HOW MANY will survive? It sure sounds FUN to find out!

i used to do landscaping and this could very easily happen. damn, why didnt i think of that?, lol
that's not a bad idea you got there. I had a buddy in landscaping...most of his customers never even walked through their own yard, that was the 'help's job', the plants were there to be seen. he'd always claim he had plants hidden in peoples out-of-sight landscape beds, and most made it to maturity because he was the only one who ever got close enough to them to notice!

why would someone use balloons? did i miss something?
Please don't use balloons, for this project. Birds and animals choke or get caught in the rubber and strings. Many creatures suffer and die from such activities. I have found dead animals and birds, many times, over the years that have had an encounter with humans' thoughtlessness.
It sounds like a good idea, but, please don't do it.
