Default Bongs acrylic or glass?

After breaking my only bong (the glass bong did not bounce) I went looking for a replacement. I thought that a cheaper acrylic bong would do fine.

Well I have gone thru two now and the plastic near the seams/stem seems to get brittle and they both have cracked. I have used Plumbers cement to fix them but am starting to get the feeling that paying more for glass or ceramic might be the way to go.

Suggestions or opinions are very welcome.

I do agree with everyone when it come to acrylics, they definately do NOT last. Look nice, but die quickly. I'm saving up for a ROOR, suggested by Munchies. About a 5 or 7mm. They are pricey, but i hear they bounce . I'm presently using a glass bong FlamingoHippie got for me in San Fran. I like glass

I spent 160 for my last glass water pipe. its a PURE, a low end of some company.

14mm downtube instead of the 18mm. even with the larger size downtube and thicker glass, I cant see spending what ROOR asks.

for that kind of money Ill get a volcano vaporizer.

so GLASS is my vote.

Glass is the only way to go. For one it's easier to clean(you can use alcohol, don't try that with acrylic it will **** it up) and also tastes way better. I would have to agree about the price of the ROOR piece though, for my money I'd rather get the Volcano vape.

Default OK... OK... I made her one.

I didn't know she was struggling with her bong until I read this post. So I made her one tonight. Here are some pics of the project.

I used a rubber mouth piece from the leaking acrylic bong and the bowl and stem from the glass one she dropped. This is the result.

there are more companies around that make the "RooR" kind, blackleaf for example and those cost a fraction of what roor tag might ask for. I got a 5mm "Boost" bong, looks like a roor at first sight and is as stong as one, dropped it twice already on the stone floor in my kitchen yet it survived without any damage so far.

the acrylic might taste for some time, my last one hasn't lost this softener taste dispite me having it for at least 2 years now and a few runs in the dish washer. you can be lucky and you can be not with acrylic - never the less, it just my "party bong" that travels with me, at home i stick to my glass bongs.

It hasn't been tried yet. The glue needs to cure and I think a good washing after that and it'll be just fine. It seems to have a good seal. But I think I got a bit of a glue buzz from testing it.

The glue is cool it is the same stuff you use on water lines, etc.

After letting it sit overnight it was cleaned out before use. No telltale smells or anything.
