Morphine Sulfate Recall: Need a reason for medical marijuana?
I received this letter, six months after the script was filled, telling me the FDA approved drug, Morphine Sulfate Instant Release, has been recalled. Why? It's accidentally too potent. Just like some other opiate painkillers chronic pain patients are expected to take simply because they are FDA approved. The FDA drugs aren't accurately regulated for potency, they still kill people, and yet I am supposed to take these instead of medical marijuana. To any politician against medical marijuana...You take the alternative for just one week, and let's talk (that's if you survive some accidental miscalculation during the manufacture of the drug).

Morphine Sulfate IR Recall: Need A Reason for Medical Marijuana?
Great Post Mogie! The U.S. Federal Government runs Methadone (which is more addictive than heroin) clinics in every state, except for South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming, where you can get on Methadone Maintenance. Methadone, although helpful for recovering opiate addicts, not just heroin, stay's in the body long enough that when you take your next days dose the Methadone from the previous day is still in your system. In time this causes the Methadone to build up in your body to the point that it becomes toxic. This is not only legal but you can easily get insurance, medicare and medicaid to pay for it. Whereas toxicity with Marijuana is not an issue for it is impossible to OD on Marijuana . Why the government would allow me to be on Methadone Maintenance long enough for it to give me Diabetic Neuropathic Gastroparesis (Paralyzed Stomach) is more proof how FDA approved drugs are toxic, dangerous and fatal. Plus no one ever warned me of the dangers of Methadone Maintenance. Over time, a period of years, Methadone slows down every bodily function from your heart rate and breathing to your digestive system. My gastric specialist told me that being on Methadone Maintnance is what caused my lifelong Gastroparesis. From Gastroparesis I surf waves of nausea from mild to severe every hour of everyday. There exists no drug that safely controls chronic nausea and vomiting in today's pharmacopoeia, including Marinol. I have been on Marinol for years, because Medical Marijuana is illegal in my state, and from personal experience I can tell you Marinol does nothing for nausea or pain control. Marinol at best is a very expensive placebo. Yet our (un)beloved and (dis)respected federal government will not legally allow me to use the only drug in today's pharmacopoeia, Marijuana, that safely, effectively and efficiently controls chronic nausea and vomiting with no dangerous side affects. Reglan/Metoclopramide, the most commonly prescribed drug for this condition, causes Irreversible Parkinson like shakes and tremors and "Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome" which is fatal . I am with you Mogie, since no drug exists to safely control my chronic nausea and vomiting I am willing to face arrest, prosecution, imprisonment, forfeiture of property, money and benefits just to safely treat the severe symptoms of my lifelong disease. I wrote my local politicians, and those from surrounding states, asking them, "if they were in my shoes, what would they do?" Would you risk acquiring an Irreversible nervous disorder akin to Parkinson's or even worse death from "Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome," or would you use the only safe drug to control chronic nausea and vomiting known to man, Marijuana? Even though the federal government refuses to admit scientific and medical fact or even do research into the already proven safe and effective drug Marijuana, the fact remains that the inhalation of Marijuana smoke/vapors brings immediate relief from nausea and vomiting with no dangerous side affects. As you said, and I am in total agreement with you...F--- You, I won't do what you tell me!!! Peace...

Wow, thanks for the wakeup. while I have been given morphine level opiates for my migraines, I get them too often now, I'd be an addict. I currently take metoclopramide for nausea associated with another medicine, dihydroergotamine/migranol, so apparently I'm perscribed an lsd derivitave, and something able to cause parkinson's like syndromes. Along with butalbital, a very addictive barbiturate. No thank you, I'd rather rot in jail than let my mind rot itself away.

YES, definetly stay away from Reglan/Metoclopramide. Even though "Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome" caused by Metoclopramide is rare the Irreversible Parkinson like shakes and tremors are a more common side affect. My doctor told me this when he gave me my Reglan/Metoclopramide prescription. As far as Barbiturates go they definetly are addictive and toxic. If you are taking opiates and you feel nauseated, try going without the opiates, if you can, for a week or less and see if your nausea doesn't improve. If opiates are a necessity I suggest you smoke Medical Marijuana to control the nausea you might get from the opiates plus using Medical Marijuana reduces the amount of opiates needed for pain control. Good luck to you...Peace...
