RockHound is on a distinguished road
Default Hello

Got an idea about trying hyrdo in a about a 3x3, w/250W HPS. ( I know its not a new idea) I have been doing lots af reading about methods and such. Gp is a great place to find what your looking for. But, First question, what kind of heat should I expect from a 250W HPS and what kind of distance from plants should me maintained for the 3x3 area? Until I hear back I'll just keep reading. Thanks for a great sight.

Greetings there Rockhound, and welcome to GP. I'm of the opinion your 250w HPS wont create the heat as compared to say a 400w+ HPS. The way I check the heat is by placing my hand under the light and measure the distance from my hand, where i can leave it very comfortably without my hand feeling too warm, and adding a couple inches. Say for instance i can put my hand about 12 inches from the light and I could leave it there all day or for a long period of time. I'll add 2 more inches to that distance and set it over my plants 14 inches. You wont go wrong using this technique for light distance, and you'll never scorch your plants. Another thing to consider is coverage. If you need to light up say 2 or 4 plants you'll have to raise the lights a little higher to illuminate the area all around them. Try this out and get back with us. Luck with this info.
