Default Regenerating a plant

I guess most people pull thier plant when its time to harvest. I was thinking, what would happen if you just "plucked " all the buds off, then put the plant back into 18/6 , what would happen. I mean I cut roses off my rose bush all the time ,without having to pull it out of the ground. If the plant regenerates, then you can take clones, right?

I have one outside I am thinking of bringing in. It has not done really well and it is pretty little so I am harvesting the buds a few at a time, as they are ready, then I will dig it up and reveg it. I have to make sure all the creepy crawlies are out too, so I will dust it and give it a dose of neem oil first too. The lowerst buds are not quite ready.

Fman,

I'm on my second plant that is "re-vegging"...yep, it can sure be done!

090108 014.jpg

This NFO is the last of it's kind that I can find available, and it is also the best medicine I can get for my Meniere's Disease. So, now that I harvested it I need to re-veg it hoping to get a few cuttings off of it and make on a MOM plant. This plant is also in a DWC bucket, so I changed back to pure rainwater with a bit of some Vitamin B stuff and Superthrive only in it. This is to reduce some of the shock of harvest and keep it alive till it figures out it can grow all over again!

Here is the plant before it was harvested last Sat. She (sadly) had a bit of bud rot in the top cola as the humidity has been unreal here (in my grow rooms, that is) and although it is back to the 40's% area now, I lost about 1/3 of that top cola. Still, my guess is about 2.5 oz. or better of good medicine came off her.

ISO that sure was a nice plant. I wasnt thinking of cutting my plant that much. I was going to just cut the buds off. Which way is better? Hope this doesnt start some kind of "fight".

Hey Fman,

The less damage you do the quicker she will recover. I've only done this with males (when he is ready and she is not), and there have been times that I literally cut off every single leaf. Two or three weeks later, new shoots! I do it pretty much the way ISO does, I just don't get quite that carried away!

Later,

Mmmmm...I don't normally do it that way either...LOL!!

This one had been well trimmed from the bottom going about 10" up the stem, so there was nothing small left to work with down there but those buds. And I didn't find out till I was near donw harvesting that this was the last of her kind.. Only choice I have it to try and get her to re-grow from that remaining stump/buds.

I trimmed about 50% of the root mass off on Friday, so hopefully that can kick her into gear re-rooting and growing new branches. So far...nuthin', but it's still early in the game...

ISO

BTW, harvest total (dried) for that plant was 3 -1/4 oz.

Hi guys. okay, I dug up the one I am trying to regenerate. No wonder it never did very well as just under where we dug the hole for her, there was a big bloody root for an elm. Over the summer it grew up into the dirt I added and must of taken all the nutrients. Anyway, here is a pic. Do you guys think I should cut her down more? I also have not done any root prunning or anything to her as the roots where not really far beyond the initial root ball. I am amazed she lived at all. I will not do this mistake again. I did manage to harvest some buds off her, but nothing much.

I have her by herself under a couple of cfl's with a fan. She is already a lot greener. I also put her in about a gallon sized pot with fresh vegging soil. She is under 24 hr light like all my vegged plants are. She is not dead yet so it is a start!

Here is my regenerating plant. I have just left her under a t-d light socket with 2 cfl's in it. Unfortunatly this girl I believe brought in some surprise guest, fungas gnats. By the time I knew they where a problem, it was too late, so I have kept her going. Here is what she first looked like, and how she looks now. She is flowering again!

I also have some in bloom now I will endeavor to reveg as the clones to carry them on have died, from the damn fungas gnats. So we will see how it goes!

Peace

Here are the pics of the girl I regenerated. She is now in full flower, still in a one gallon pot. I put my lone male blueberry with her and she has seeds in half her buds! I will add that pic in a bit. This one is from November !

The rest I took earlier. And I have to tell you, I really ignored this girl. I let her wilt, dried her out and left the light on. She is under the HPS now on 12 12 and she is doing well! I am going to repot her in the next couple days and give her a good feed and see what she does.

Amazing plant! It truely is a weed!

After the buds are harvested, you may realize just how much you want to perpetuate a plant you neglected to take cuttings from. Cut the main stalk down to the point where below several growth tips or buds are remaining. Return the plant to a vegetative fertilizer and photoperiod. Over the next several weeks, the plant will elongate and develop new upward growth. It is very important not to over water the plant after it has been cut back. The reduced above ground plant structure is still being fed by the entire existing root system, which can cause an excessive amount of water uptake and the resultant stress associated. The use of products containing ammonium form nitrogen, such as chicken manure or Genesis Formula Grow 2 will encourage rapid growth and stem elongation. Trace element supplemenation, co2 and 24 hour lighting are helpful.
