Videoman vs. FredFarted - CHALLENGE GROW!
It's time....
Ladies and Gentlemen, in the center veg area we have the Challengers...
Videoman - Wisdom of many years, organically inclined. The "undeclared" standing grow Champ..
vs.
FredFarted - With intelligence that has been simmered in many years of alcoholic beverages and THC filled herbs...
Are you READY TO RUMBLE??????
Here are the rules for this Challenge:
Both Video and Fred will advise me of exactly how they want their plant grown. All nutrients, watering schedules, etc. will be set by the contenders. If an emergency situation happens I will make my best call based on my own experiences, and advise the contenders asap for other directions.
The strain for this grow will be Alaskan ThunderFuc*, which throughout the grow will be called ATF to save all the *** from showing up.
Video's plant will be grown via his ORGANIC Soil method.
Fred's plant will be grown in a 3 or 5 gal. DWC bucket, using GreenLightnin Nutes.
Plants are scheduled to veg for 4-5 weeks, then placed into flower. This strain should finish flower in 45-55 days.
Due to changes in my grow rooms, vegging will be done under 8 ea of the 48" - 6500k, T-5 lamps, totaling 40,000 lumens. Lights will be placed at optimum distance from the plant canopy.
Flowering will be accomplished with a dedicated 600W HPS running a Hortilux Enhanced spectrum HPS lamp, fresh bulb 15 days ago.
Comments, rooting on your favorite grower, questions are all acceptible here on this thread. Just don't go giving the Surrogate Grower/Referee any shit (me)...I am only doing what I am told..
8 of the ATF clones were cut this morning and placed in RapidRooters, with RootTec gel applied to the base of the clone. Clones are in a standard humidity done, with 2 ea. 13W, 2200k CFL's a couple inches above the humidity dome lid.
As soon as we have 2 well rooted clones (I expect this by Sun. 5/25), we can begin!

Poor Fred, I kinda feel sorry for him now. With all due respect, I'll try to go easy on the old fart, but this is going to be a walk in the park!
Fred, I am sorry, but your plants will never hold a candle to my organic recipe, let alone even be in the same league!
Peace

iso... cmon i know you dont like cussing... but its the NAME OF THE STRAIN, cmon!!! lolol
I look forward to seeing this go down. Personally i would trust either of them equally to hed my grow, but we will see who does better.
maybe you should grow like 2 or 3 plants to their specifications to have more of a controlled variable in this experiment. just incase one plant is in better shape to begin with than the other.

Not like cussing? I spent 10 yrs behind the wheel of a Freightliner running 48 states and Canada...do ya think I might have heard most of it by now?..LOL I can handle most of the colorful metaphors just fine...one or two words are just plain offensive, especially to Ladies (and I mean a LADY, not just a female). I Got's manners, ya know? (My Dad used to say I got a lot of Class.....it happend to all be 3rd Class, but Class all the same.. )

I took 8 clones. There will be one (1) plant per contender, and I plan to grow one of them in soil with my nutes right next to them...just as an "un-official" amateur entry...
If Fred's or Vid's plants expire, it will be because THEY told me to do something that didn't work. If Fred says Ph the water to 5.8, he'll get 5.8. Same goes for Video's gal...what they say goes.

hahahaha..your gonna grow soil plants vs hydro plants....what are we trying to prove here..cause i'll tell you the results right now...freds will be bigger fatter an more devolped....vids will be smaller an you may see an increase in flavor..but a proper flush will do that with hydro to....so without knowing anyother conditions i'll say freds will outyeild an be overall better then vids...sorry but soil doesnt hold water to hydro...lol...peace az

Factors that I think are important in judging Hydo Fred vs. Soil Vid
1. unit cost per unit yeild - how much an oz or g when all is said and done electricy for pumps and ferts count
2. maintanence time per unit yield - Vid basically just has two pot changes and watering.
Now hydro is going to yeild more and perhaps a bit faster but what will it cost in time and money and will it be worth it
3. The overal aethetic of the finished budz smell color smoke etc....many claim organic is better - but I am not aware of any blind or double blind tests
4. Health - do you really want all those chemicals around..would you rather eat an organic apple or regular....r your budz any less important?
I assume potency will be to similar to find a difference but that counts also of course

They needed an neutral 3rd party to "Officiate" their challenge, so, I'll be growing the plants under their individual instructions. I'll just be caring for the plants and taking LOTS of notes. This way a grow by their methods can be compared. No sneaky nute and carbo-load feedings at midnight, and that sort of thing..
I'm going to go get a pic of the clones in a few. I'll be picking 2 of uniform size and shape...all things will be as equal as possible at the starting line.

Ken, and everyone for that matter, this is designed to be more of a fact setting mission. I have nothing but love for Fred.
Think about it, all you ever hear is hydro this/organic that, and this is our attempt to document a side by side comparison.
Truth be told, the hardest part of this is going to be deciding the winner!
Each method had it's pro's and con's, and the real winner is going to be dependant on what you, the reader think is a more valuable attribute, as each method will have positive and negative attributes.
Having said this in an attempt to be honest, and a nice guy about this competition, as it is all in fun, the only real problem I see is that this is sort of like a gunfight at the ok corral, but Fred showed up with not much more than a knife....go figure!
Peace
<-------Fred, after I wipe his ass all over the pavement!

in the end I don't think there will be a clear winner
the fun will be in the process/contest
its sort of like saying who is better, the beatles or miles davis - apples compared to oranges - but I sure want to listen to both - or in this case learn from both -very exciting stuff
