Bud Drying Cabinet...
When I first started my grow, one question that remained was "WHERE am I going to dry this once harvested????????"
The question remained throughout the 4 short months of the grow, and as the plants were/are finishing their flower phase, and nearly ready for harvest...I had to come up with something...quick!
It needed to be housed in the flower room, so the vapors from the drying herb could easily be sent out into the upper atmosphere, instead of permeating the house, garage or neighborhood (such as it is). I decided to build a "cabinet", or something more along the lines of a dresser.
Started out with some left over lumber from when I remodeled the first grow rooms. I had 2X4's and 2X3's, as well as several sheets of cheap paneling at my disposal. Bought a couple 1X3's to help out on the "drawer" slides.
Here are some pics of the completed unit. It stands 40" tall, and is 36" wide, with spaces for 4 shelves, each 30" X 16", and covered with cheap screen (aka construction cloth). The shelves are made from 1X2
Air intake is done via a slot left in the top, designed in between the top of the enclosure and the first shelf. All other potential points of air-ingress are sealed or taped. There is a 68 CFM 12v computer fan mounted to the bottom, and a cardboard cover which keeps out light and helps channel the air throughout the cabinet, making even drying a possibibity. The 12V fan came from radio shack, and the heavy-duty transformer from Value Village at $1.99.
I wish I had taken more pics during the construction, but I made this across several days as I was working at my job, as well.
Feel free to ask questions...it isn't a difficult thing to build, but did require a few hours of work. My hopes are it performs as good as it should, drying not too fast, and not too slow.

I have a tendency to "overbuild" things...LOL!
That could have all been done with 2X2's instead of the 2X4's, making it much lighter to move around.
I've got a "test branch" off of one of the C99's in there now to see how it does. Can't wait to see how it smokes!
I did sneak a small, lower branch off of the NFO...trichs were 100% clear, but it was in the way and would never have amounted to anything much, so, I hacked it off and dried it.
Smoked a bowl last night (only got 2 bowls off the whole branch!) and it was very cranial...an active, wash the truck and clean the house kinda buzz. I like that from time to time (especially when the house needs work!)

Love the idea. Think I would add wheels (have to be able to move things so I can clean..it's a female thing).

Those were part of the design, but I haven't been out to a hardware store this week, and it's 30 miles away. I'll get some small casters for it so I can move it around to clean, etc.
BTW, gal's ain't the only ones that are picky about stuff being clean.. I sweep and vacuum my grow rooms at least once a week, and can't stand piles of clutter.

Yep. Go to a big Thift store or G-sale and buy an old worn-out dresser. Take the drawers out and use them for storage or firewood, and place the racks in where the drawers used to sit. Add some Panda plastic across the front, a place on top for warm air to enter, cut a hole and a small exhaust fan at the bottom and yer done...
If I had to make another cabinet like this that's what I would do...much less labor intensive!

Damn good idea...I think.
I've never done this before...do a lot of trichs fall off and get blown away during the drying?

Seems like that bottoms panel would need to be depressed in the center to catch and hold them. Plus any type of circulating fan could spell trouble those things float like spores.
