Veteran guerrilla and outdoor grower - first time grow in a small space
Im looking into a closet grow for seedlings/ clones for my summer activities and some indoor buds. I am germinating some seeds under three dual bulb 24" t-5 lights and thats all good.
Im about to order a light. I want the suns system 2 400w enclosed system. How much heat should I expect with no ventilation. I am going to ventilate but I am curious.
My ventilation plans include
-small celing vent fan on a switch
- ocilating fan
- roughly 100cfm in line fan on...
- 2x attached 4" ducts vented into attic crawl space
- glass to enclose the unit also
I am really finding that there isnt much good clear info on heat out put of these units.
I want to know how hot my 2'x4'x8'tall space will get with that light. and what my minimum needs will be. I know the in line fan will be louder than I really want. Id like to get by with just a ocilating fan and a celing can if I could.
Thanks all.

Greetings!!!
Welcome to GP!! Lots of folks to answer your questions, we love pics!!!
I am also a veteran 35 year outdoor grower doing the finishing touches on my first organic indoor... gonna be a happy holiday season with fresh meds!!
My opinion, and it is just, that from personal observation and reading is that you need to calculate the square footage and that comes to 8.
You want coverage of 55,000 lumens...check around for calculation oh the HID sub-forum... great information!
A single 400 HID should do wonders, you might run that 4 inch duct from the attic through the hood and run a cool tube.
My area is 25 plus or minus s.f. and I am running a single 400 HPS without a cool tube. Outside 4 inch air intake and 4 inch carbon filtered exaust used in my house to supplement heat ( I live in a cold climate )
The room maintains 83 degrees with ventilation on and will hit WAYHOT if not ventilated.
JMHO..Peace!
Pete

You need more than 100cfm. I'm not sure exactly the amount, but we have a chart around here somewhere. Im doing > 100cfm for my single 250w.
Look for a nice squirrel cage fan. They're not too expensive, and they come in the much higher CFMs you will need.
