Thanksgiving 2009
What’s on your menus?
We got sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, raspberry pie, oyster dressing, green beans, egg yolk noodles, mashed potatoes, and of course the turkey.
I’m in charge of the turkey this year…last night I caramelized sweet onions, then incorporated diced garlic, celery, pepper. Deglazed with water, and then simmered with a mix of tomato juice/water/Worcestershire sauce. I plan on injecting the turkey with the fluid, and then make a light glazing of maple syrup, parsley, garlic powder. I stuff my bird with apple, onion chunks, and whatever was left over from the injected mix. Going to cook it for a couple of hours tonight, finish it tomorrow.
I’m so hungry; I just about can’t wait…
Hope everyone has a good turkey day!

What about everyone else?

Everyone always goes to my grandmothers house for the holidays, always a ton of food and some unavoidable drama involved so I try to keep a low profile, but I'm sure it will be great.

I think we will have..... TURKEY~!
Actually already did have last month for Canadian Thanksgiving, living on the border we celebrate both. We raised some birds and had to convert them into food early. We planned for a slaughter this week but the bloody things got HUGE! Group of four of us grew some, mine weighed 38 lbs.
I didn't have a freezer big enough and it just fit in our 5.2 C.F. oven. We cut off a cooked breast, froze it and will have it with all the regular trimmings...
Here comes the triptofan.....and the annual loosening of the belt!

I'm having XHTML with SEO sauce!
Yum!
But, for dinner, I'll prolly have a ribeye or a Porterhouse with Crimini mushrooms, a baked potato loaded with fresh chives, butter, sour cream, etc., maybe some asparagus or broccoli, and a bottle of Cabernet. Then, maybe some cheesecake or something decadently chocolate for dessert. I have some really good chocolate mousse... yeah, that's the ticket!
A meal like that will make me far more thankful than turkey!
