Default seedlings have no color

I have just started several White Widow seeds and all of them germinated. After germination I put them into rockwoll cubes, taproot down, and kept them damp at 85* under a dome, they have been there for 2 days now and some are taller than others but only 1 is has green leaves that are open, on the others the sugar leaves are a light tan, almost white color and still folded together but the stems are green and they are growing taller, is this normal? Is there anything I can do? I would post pics but my camera is crazy, it wont focus on small things close up, or if it will I dont know how to make it.

Sorry, I meant damp not dark, I wasn't reading what I was typing.

I move them from the dark to under the lights on soon as the shell fell off the sugar leaves as they were first poking up above the rockwool.

The one im most worried about the 2 leaves are not even starting to open and are brown but the stem is green and its standing up well.

Try taking the dome off of them now and see if that helps. They might need more air now. Have a fan gently blowing accross the plants in order to strengthen the stems and keep an eye on the rockwool cubes, you might have to hand water them a few times a day. Will you be growing hydro or soil...?

Yes, gradually put them into the light, as shinning explained. Seedlings don't really need to be domed like clones do, and you want them to be a bit drier so they do not damp off.

Peace

They'll be grown in DWC, placing the RW directly into hydroton when its time. I think its to late for the one, the folded leaves are starting to shrivel today and its looking so sad. None of the others have shown any visible growth overnight but dont seem to be declining like the one.

Stupid over competent me, only starting the number of seeds I planned on having, I've got 2 more germinating now.

Dug out the camera's manual and figured out how to focus on up close stuff. This is the one thats dieing, there's no hope with it right? Or should I keep it around? What happened to cause this, something I did, or it just wasnt meant to be? thx

i would definately hang onto her for awhile b4 giving up!

perhaps nextime you could wait for the roots to be longer b4 u pot. we have found that they like to get almost as long as your forefinger b4 they go in. Also, if u have a window that gets some daylight sun, I would try that.

Natural light can do wonders! Let us know how it goes

So you recommend just leaving them grow in the paper towels for a while longer? In the past I have had seedlings get a few inches tall in the paper towel with their little leaves completly unfolded. Bad luck seems to follow me - my dog ate the container I had that in.

I'm a big fan of the stick it in the dirt under a light with some water method. It's a little old fashioned, but I have had good success. The trick is not to bury it too far. (1/4 in is plenty.) You might try that in the future too. I'm sure you can do it in rockwool.

I also don't dome seedlings.

Honestly your poor little seedling doesn't look to hot, but cannabis is a pretty amazing plant. This is the weakest time for it, though. Getting over this hump will help out a lot. If it survives you can clone it and make as many as you actually needed.

Good luck!

but you have to learn what works for you with some trial and error. My partner always says, "you gotta kill some plants". lol

But not everything works the same in every environment. But, yeah, we have better luck with them if they have a good long root..

I have low humidity in my grow room, at night it gets cold here and our furnace runs and the RH is <20%. During the day it will come up to about 55% when the furnace isnt running as much. Do you think its ok to have them exposed in such dry conditions?

Even in the dome RH will only get to about 85%, I tried adding a little dish of water but it didnt do much. My weather thing has a memory function and highest ever recorded is 87%

Now that I've figured out how to take pics I wanted to show one of the other sisters. This one started out the same way, whitish in color but then the leaves opened, inside you could already see the first real leaves that day. Notice one of the sugar leaves looks dead now like the first pic I posted, that leaf never grew.

Have you tried a humidifier in there at night? Once they get roots established they are going to drink, which is why the domes aren't really needed. The lowest I get is 39% according to my meter. (Drafty house.) So I couldn't tell you for sure.

I dont have a humidifier, I have heard stories of people hanging wet towels to help, maybe I'll give that a shot. My house is drafty too, old windows - single pane, wood frames, 100 years old. The storm windows are just as old, same wood frames that hang from the outside of the house.

Okay I need to bring this back up, I guess I'm just really bad with seedlings, take a look at the pic in post 12, that picture was taken 3 days ago and the little seedling shows no growth since then, in fact the only thing happening is that the leaves are getting lighter green from the inside out. Should I perhaps give it a very light dose of nutes, or some superthrive? Or just keep waiting.

How come my bagseed I plant grows like weeds but these feminized seeds I cant get them to even sprout.

a soiless mix. never tried it in a cube. You sure that's the way to go?

Whats the way to go- a RW cube, or hydro? I would actually prefer to use jiffy pellets, I used them in the past with great results but only for soil and only with bagseed. Just expand the pellets, drop in a seed and in a few days I would have a seedling sprouted and growing well with a really nice root system. SO many people say not to use them for hydro. I'm going to start a new thread in the hydro section about what would be better, or at least less bad, Jiffy Pellets or Rapid Rooters, see what the general consensus is.

ive noticed one thing for sure you have squeezed the excess moisture from the cube, never do this shake it out like you would when shaking water out of a paint brush, squeezing only compacts rookwool and squeezes the air pockets out of the rockwool.also when planting into rookwool you must soak the cubes in nutural phed water (7) for a day before planting, rookwool just soaked has a tendency to raise the ph very high.hope this helps!!!

That RW is definitely not squeezed, I did just as you said, shook the water out. I also pH'd them with 5.0 water for 24 hours, them let them dry, then soaked them with distilled water and measured the runoff, it was 6.3.
