Default my cloner

things needed:
20 gallon aquarium
underwater heater
air stone and pump
1 inch Styrofoam
a tray to fit inside aquarium that doesnt rub on the sides
ro water or distilled
watering can with a hose attached to the pour spout

-cut styrofoam 1 inch on each side smaller than the aquarium
-fill aquarium with water leaving room for foam and clones in there medium from light
-put heater and air stone in bottom of tank
-place foam in tank on foam
-set tray with clones on foam
-plug everything in and turn aquarium light on
-top water to desired height with watering can and hose around outside edge of foam

you have a controlled heat and humidity environment, for raising clones, they need less watering and seem to grow well in this environment!!

Cloning is the weakest link in my program, I could sure use some help, I'm using a covered propigation tray and dome with an airator in the tray and misting twice a day, with peat cubes for medium. Any suggestions?

Yes, build a cheapo bubble cloner, there's plans all over the 'net, and they work awesome. I prefer to have my clone stems above the water line, not submerged. As the bubbles break the surface, they "mist" the stems. Keep your temperatures around 28-29C using a submersible aquarium heater with a temperature dial and you will have roots in 7-10 days. Use a thermometer to verify the water temperature once a day, some cheap aquarium heaters are crap and lie on the dial, but if you measure with a thermometer you can find the right setting. Another way might be to use a rheostat, but why bother.

The single most important lesson I have learned is this: your cuttings need to come from vigorously growing donors. Don't waste your time trying to clone a dying/unhealthy plant, they won't root.
