Pursuit of my passion
Hmmm, interesting subject matter. I have many things that I do that I am passionate about. Through the years I have found many life ocurences that forced me to take a stand and gather knowledge to fuel my fire.
Recently I have been passionate and quite vocal about industrial wind turbines. Although I feel the need for green energy, these large generators are all about tax incentives, depreciation of equipment, tax shelters and benefits and a blatant short term scam-fix for a never ending increase in demand for electricity. They tried to put them up in my beautiful piece of mountain, they would have ruined my peaceful lifestyle. It took over 3 years to defeat the machines but we stopped them here.
So with that episode over I now revert to my original and ongoing passion in life.
I LOVE SPEED!
no, not the drug silly....
I love to go fast. I have done Delta Position free fall from 20,000 feet at over 190m.p.h., drove a Top Fuel Dragster back in the day over 250 m.p.h. and gone over 185 on a motorcycle. Summer weekends are often spent racing my Buell on road race tracks. I am not as fast as I once was but at my age, there are not too many flipping a bike into a corner at 165... ah to be young enough to do it at 180...
My passion now is Bonneville Salt Flats... I want to go there and join the 200 mile per hour club.My son has a couple really fast cars and bikes and we are in preliminary discussions about doing a father-son race week next year in Utah.
I gotta get there before my first Social Security check!!

I would love to go to Bonneville and go over 200. It's been my dream to someday make it down there, but money is an issue. The fastest I've been so far was 175 on a toll road in FL at 2am, was riding a 1999 Yamaha R1 that was slightly tweaked, pulled a wheelie at 130 in 4th. That was crazy.

*drool* I feel like I am doing something right if my bike is still running, let alone going over 100.

Smoke...
LOL!!!! ... gotta find a good tail wind!!!!
Still got the need for speed, last bike I had that wouldn't kick the century mark in the arse was my Hodaka 125 dirt bike, it would hit 100 or so but was WFO with the gearing I had in it!
Chuck..
Wheelies at 130 are a blast!!! I pulled one on my sons Ducati 1098r at 155 coming out of a high speed sweeper.... INSANE!!!
(loved every second of it... )

Good morning Daz!!
My son has the 1098R and a Graves Yamaha R-1 that he tracks, he replaced his 1098S with the 1098R... the traction control is just nuts... loads of fun to ride!!
He was coming out of the pits at Virginia International Raceway and the fuel cap
came off and lodged in the output gear and chain on the trans at around 110. Totally locked up the tranny and blew it to hell!
It cost him over 8 thousand US dollars to repair... very expensive toy and then he traded it in on the R.
I also rode his 848 Ducati and Triumph Daytona .... awesome bikes!!!
Later!
Pete
