Newbie trich/harvest questions and new haze/skunk and lowryder 2 grow... Yeeha!
Hi folks, since my plants have been maturing, budding up, I've been having trouble getting my own posts up. I keep getting lost in Hatch's trich pictures. Please excuse the absence. Anyhow, I've got one Indica just starting to get a tad cloudy in the trichomes (at the moment a light, heady high... I've been taking "tastes" ;)) and I'm curious how much longer she'll take to finish.
It's, in my opinion, a master kush I got from a Dutch seed bank, the only female of the lot, probably because I had them in the wrong soil and packed tightly in it. Some strains have just gone for it anyway under my little setup, which I'll get into later, but this one needed more tlc. She suffered an additional blow at the hands if a pal who looked after them for two weeks: grave error. He blasted them with ph down, having freaked out and turned the simple instructions around in his head from pure anxiety about getting it wrong. I hate to take the lord's name in vain, but Jesus. When I got home the soil was orange and they had stunted little colas, little bud drops. So I flushed the poor suckers and noticed how damp the soil stayed, and realized I'd used the wrong soil mix, like a putz. So, I've got a recovering from trauma girl getting healthier (her soil having been a more breathable mix than her clone sister who remained an amusing budsicle, as jangel says) and I can hazard no guess as to what the hell she'll do at this point. She's still sprouting quite a few white hairs, ratio is about half and half and she's good and sugary and though trichomes look white from farther away, they seem pretty clear after at least six weeks. I know patience, patience... Not one of my virtues, just ask my toaster.
So now, I've got four clones that I took from the ms in full flower (dumb? Long, for sure), two skunk/haze seeds that came with my feminized lowryder 2, of which I've planted two. They're all under a 200 watt CFL while the flowerers are under red CFLs in a closet big enough for two sativas or four little indicas, mebbe. Only ever had two at a time in da flowa chamba.
Well, thanks for all the help you've unwittingly provided me and best to all. Break out a cigar for me; the first seedling is poking his head out for a look around! Skunk/haze. Damn. I was hoping the lowryder would pop first. Anyone have any experience there? Gonna go talk to that recently harvested budsicle. Peace, gv

Hey there and welcome to Green Passion,, glad you have joined us,,, Your question, it all depends what kind of high you want, you can take her when very milky white on half of the trichs and the other half amber,, the more amber they get the more the high is like a couch lock kind of high,, hope that helps. Any more questions dont hesitate to ask,, and again Welcome to GP,, hope you enjoy..

Little addendum
Lowryder 2 numba 1 just showed her burning desire to join our atmosphere. A resounding welcome, meet all your wellwishers! I'll be getting a camera in the next weeks to prove I'm not just blowing smoke, but truly, deeply and with great satisfaction, inhaling; I watched my previous camera float down a trout stream in New Mex quicker than I could stumble and curse after it. Happy days! Gv

Thanks, Deb, and enjoy! Any idea how many weeks it generally takes fir trichomes to go amber? For an indica. What strain are you currently partaking in, to hang a preposition? How do you dry and cure? Best, gv

Iv'e been thinking about this lately also as I have a couple finishing up I think. I just checked these and trichs are all cloudy with a few amber. It's just doesnt look like much to smoke lol If I leave them for another month, what would happen? Would they get bigger than they are?? Or am I trying to talk myself into smoking cuz I just posted my 420th post?

Thanks for checking in, sab, and for sharing your pics. How many weeks are you into flowering, and what strain is it? Looks healthy enough, but for bigger yield, the plants need luxurious root space for good growth. The pros say one gallon volume for each foot of above ground plant. If you've still got them in keg cups for flowering, they'll stay small. You may also have gone to flower a bit early, and the strength of the stems can't hold more weight. If you've already got amber trichs, maybe another two weeks or so, it's kinda what I'm trying to find out, too. They also say that they get 25 % of their bulk in the last 2weeks. Something to consider for harvesting. Best o' luck, gv

These were put into 12/12 on 9/5. They are all bagseed so your guess is as good as mine at this point lol I need them to stay small, not much room here but I need quality more than quantity. I put them all in 12/12 right away and when starting from seed also. I think I can hang on for another 25%! My next "crop" is really stretchy but lots of bud sites already. They are way taller than the cup so I will have to stake them I think. Thanks!!

Sab, I don't think your girl is anywhere near ready. I've never seen or heard of a strain mature in less than 42-45 days. Most around two months. Also, why do you not veg at all? Yeah, patience is a virtue, in our love, its a necessity. LOL GL HH

I don't veg to cut down on flower time is all. I can't have them grow too big with my lil cab. I'm not really going for quantity but quality so if they are small, it's cool as long as the smoke is good. And if I can pull 3-4/week I will be free of hanging out with "shady" people every week and have a lil more money in my pocket instead of his lol

Sab,
Sorry I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't meaning that you were trying to cut down on flower time. I count you as being around five weeks into flowering, so I was thinking you have approx 3 more weeks to finish depending on the strain. But as we all know they're done when they're done, lol. For a plant from seed to grow well, (produce well) imho, it needs to "age" a certain amount of time. Have you considered letting them veg for 2-3 weeks, then topping them so you get two tops, and this will then shorten them up height-wise? Plus you get the added benefit of two good tops, and a clone! It might be worth a try. Again, sorry if I offended. GL HH

No offense at all here lol If no one ever put in their $.02 I would learn nothing at all lol I have my very first seeds I ever made (6), it was by accident lol, and I wanted to try something new with them. So your post has just dictated how these next ones are gonna go. Whew! No more wondering what to do with them now lol The only reason these never got any veg time was I was in a hurry to get some bud going and Dr.Budgreengenes told me to put the seedlings under 12/12 when they get their first set of leaves so I did it lol Thats what he does and he's been growing for like 20 years now. So I figured it would be worth a try. I didn't mean to abuse and neglect the poor little things, just needed them fast and small. But, I am gonna try it the way you said for my very first seeds I made accidently lol I'm so excited now! I know what to do with them!! I could also chop what I have down to the last couple of nodes at the soil and reveg them and that would give me a bunch of smoke right away AND it will be topped and reveg her for 2-3 weeks and have two colas and flower them again? Just trying to get the most out of what I have to work with. No job=no money but I'll be damned if you need buttloades of new equipment and hightech gadgets to do all this with! If that was the case, I wouldn't even be posting here cuz I wouldn't have anything to post about. And these "Weeds" seem very forgiving too. Anyway, I'm babbling now but thanks for the tips!!

WOW! Sounds like your on your way! I'll be interested to see how the reveging goes. I've always had miserable luck trying it, I think in part because I've always sort of choped the life out of them and the pruning technique I use leaves pretty much nothing but a skeleton once I've harvested. Anyway, GL HH
