Looks like my account and post were victims of the database gremlin yesterday. Introduction, Take 2
Hi all, thank you for welcoming me to the boards yesterday, looking forward to learning and sharing as much as I can.
Presently treating my husband with Leukemia and self with minor maladies.

Hi Pacifica,
I was just welcoming you when the crack down happened. BTW, I am glad you have joined us, in your previous posts you were explaining about your husband illness and you were asking in the lost thread if you should ask for help in the Introduce yourself section and in my answer to you I mentioned that in my opinion it would be better if you start a new thread with a title that mentions what you are looking for, so other members with that knowledge will jump in and help you
Peace

Thanks everyone! The warm welcome is appreciated.
4evergreen, thanks! I'll start a new post to ask my question on the technique I'm thinking of using.
JohnnyApple, no tomato sensitivity here. We grow lots of delicious tomatoes in our garden every year. (p.s. can you explain why one would have a sensitivity to the oil if they have one to tomatoes?
Thanks again everyone!
edited to ask;
Which forum would be best to post my oil making questions. I'm specifically thinking about using organic grape alcohol vs rubbing alcohol, decarboxylation prior to the alcohol rinse etc.

Here ya go, sweetie!
This may explain it-
Sensitization and Allergy to Cannabis sativa Leaves in a Population of Tomato Sensitized Patients.
Sensitization and Allergy to Cannabis sativa Leaves in a Population of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum)-Sensitized Patients.
Most of the " hippie" decarbing recipes are a bit low temperature-wise.
" A conversion of THC acids into the pharmacologically active phenols-chemically a decarboxylation process (separation and release of carbon dioxide)-is accomplished most effectively by heating. A heating for five minutes to 200 to 210°C was found to be optimal for decarboxylation (Brenneisen 1984) Under these conditions, THCA was completely converted into neutral THC, while avoiding the subsequent oxidation to cannabinol (CBN). When marijuana is smoked and temperatures of 600° C are reached, obviously only a few seconds are sufficient for decarboxylation."
THC Limits for Food, Part II (a good read, by the way)
200 C = 392F, 210C= 410F. I haven't found the Brenneisen study yet, but i think the "snip" says enough.
Glad you made it back!

Welcome to GreenPassion again Pacificagal! So sorry about the lost info and everything else that got scrambled. Stuff happens and we are not God so we deal with it the best we can.
As far as your question, most of the info you seek is in the Medical Gardens forum. all sorts of recipes and info in there. I will come back and post a link.
So glad you are here! Great to balance up the ratios with more women on the forum. We grow as well or better in some cases as the men folk do! LOL! (just yankin your chains guys so don't get your shorts in a knot)
peace
