6 gallon rez - seed thru veg

High all..

I have tried E&F, Seedling>Veg>Bloom.. It's more flexible than DWC but I do not want the extra maintenance.

I might not be the brightest bulb in the package but I find E&F somewhat more complex than DWC..

In DWC I get the roots into the water and pay attention to PPM & Ph (I do that w the E&F too)
and I have not "pot size/resize" issues and there are no nutrient build up, coz dare ain't no medium for it to build up in..

Here is my newest creation.. it holds 6 gallons 'to the top', 5 gallons is very handy to work with..creates vapor space between juice and res top (root zone, out of water)..

and I'm going to try and use no pots, no medium

I'm not sure if it was bozo, bill or hatch that used the 'swimming poole knoodles' for cloneing platform in 16oz cups but thank you for the idea, whichever of you it was.
I'd like to use this res from seed (and clone) thru veg... and then into 1 of 2, DWC, bloom boxes to finish..

As you can see the noodle is cut and squeezed int the rez hole, leaving a 1/2" ish hole..
with a small piece of rw dwon ther and a very small piece above it (won't need it for clones)..
they should be able to germinate and go all the way thru veg with no manual intervention....

I'm sure there is something I'm overlooking..
That's the way I do things.. jump in, get it moving and adjust.

The cooler ($13)/air curtains($4 ea)/air pump (I forget?$15) are from WalMart.. I cut the holes with 3.5 and 1.75 inch hole saws and a drill.

We'll see over the next 3-4 months.. but what are your thoughts now?

Here's a pic of this rez in action.. it is for 4-6 weeks of vegging only,
I may try to keep a couple mothers in another just like it...
it is.. small, efficient, insulated.

I run a small op.. no need for massive amts of vegging babies...

I'll find the correct one soon and start SCROGing it in one box and experiment in another, feeding both boxes with this 6 gallon rez.

They are : top row all ak47(SS/clones), bottomL>R : AK47(SS/clone), KOKush(sannie/clone), Original Cheese Feminized (DRGT-seed)..

The only problem I see is it's to small for 5 plants.One plant ina dwc 5 gal bucket will fill it up.The roots are going to tangle togethr and you will not be able to pull them out to move them.I think one plant will do more then 5 in a small grow box like yours.Cause there no room for the root of 5 plants.Some of them will not get the light they need to fill out.% plants will drank alot in the start of flowering and keep it up till the last couple weeks before harvest.Two would be the max I would try and do in your res box.Try it and post on it as you go so everybody can learn,even if it dosent work or I'am hoping it dose well for you.Nice work on the build,what did you cut th hole with?you may want to think about a drain valve in there to drain it out for nutr change.Keep us posted. I agree that it is not big enough to take 6 plants, or even 2, thru to harvest.. but 6 plants, 3-4 weeks of veg.. NP..
getting the roots apart isn't that big a deal.. I just pull up on the stem/plug and thru the inspection hole, put my hand in the roots and paddle the juice between them.. might loose a few roots but it's only the 3-4 week of veg.. and it only takes a day or two (if that much) for them to recover..
This 'Veg only' box supplies 2 bloom boxes..

I used to do vegging in a similar 2 gallon container, vegging 4 plants at a time (DWC in 4" pots/hydroton)
and other than having to 'really' keep an eye on water level/PPM/ and ph it worked fine..

This whole idea of growing thru harvest with no pots/medium at all (eg:NFT) is all very new to me and apprehension is high (and so am I!)..
