Default Jar Curing

Hello everyone. Well I have taken my dried medicine and placed it in Mason Jars. They are now in a nice dark cool cabinet. My question is this. I put them in jars last night and sealed them, how long should i wait before i open them up later today to breathe? How long should I take the buds out of the jar and should I do this at the same time each day??? How long until you think I may be getting some smell back while curing????
I just want to do it right. I just checked the jars and there is no moisture on the inside of the glass so it looks like my 7 day dry did the trick.
Thank you all for so much wonderful help with our littlew grow.

did the stems snap before you jarred them?
if so go a couple weeks.
it sounds like none is there if no condensation.
if not check them everyday until the stems snap cleanly.

it is a sad sad day when folks open up moldy meds that were not dried before curing.

opening the jar each day for an hour or two will help but it must be dry first.

the chlorophyl will go away as it carboxilizes.

not much better in life than good meds cured up right that you grew yourslef.

Yep stems snapped clean and here we are into over 12 hrs and no signs of condensation on the glass of the jars. Hope thats a good sign and thanks for the help.I will open the jar and take the buds out and place them on a brown paper bag(in the dark of course) for 1 and a half to 2 hours then back into the jars it goes till the next day.

Med, you can also for a faster cure keep them in the paper bag for a while, like a couple of weeks. Then into the jars. but still just open, you don't have to take them out, what you want is the air exchanged. The more you handle them, the more the trichs will break off. so leave them in the jars, and just open them up for a bit each day, 1/2 hr is good sweetie.

Peace

that kinda gives my take on it and i hope that it helps bro!

i've also included a link to the original thread in case you wanted to see the pics i mention.

allow ALL the trich's to go amber. actually, they would degrade even more if you
just let them die.

what that means is you lose some of your control of the quality of your final product,
ie: harvesting a bit early, while trichs are cloudy but not amber, gives a more 'up' and
social buzz while harvesting a bit late, when 20% or more of the trichs have turned amber,
will give a more 'couchlock' stone.

as a cultivator, i like every little bit of control i can get!

anyway, here's a couple pics, first of the box i used for the first year or so of my 'career', lol!

then, after i decided i needed something bigger, more permanent, more durable and
more stealthy, i dug this out of someones trash, knocked out the bottoms of the drawers,
stapled in some screening and Voila! ...instant, invisible drying box! (lol, although it's
cloak of invisibility is somewhat compromised by it's reek! ...i'm considering a
fan and dryer sheet combo, lol.)

in any event, all i do is put them in the 'drawer' for about a week, checking and
turning the buds daily until they feel dry to the touch. ...and i don't wait until
they are so dry that the stems snap, just until the buds feel dry when i gently
squeeze them. (btw, i snip the buds from the stems at this point as they are no
longer needed)

then it's off to some plastic coffee cans for about another week, with the caveat
that sometimes, when i burp the cans after the first day, i find that the buds
are very moist again and i put them back into the 'drawer' for another day or so.

after that they go into the jar's where i continue to check them with decreasing
regularity until the buds are all gone, lol, ...or they have dried slowly enough
to be safely put away for a month or so to get that final 'cure'.

one thing i can say though, and i say it from my bottom to my heart, ...lol, if you can grow
enough to be able to put some of your bud into a jar and leave it for that final
'cure', you will be a VERY happy camper once you break out that bud and fire it up!

Hi bozo. Awesome info there my friend! Holy Cow you just answered a ton of questions that will allow me to achieve the perfect smokable Medicine. The BWIZ has a very notable fruity flavor just after hanging dry for 7 days and one hitter absolutely flipped my wig for about three hours and then put me flat out! I coulda sat down for "Fried Green Tomatoes" or even "Steel Magnolias" and never know what happened much less care.LOLInstead i sat on the rocking bench on the deck overlooking our Lake curled up with my book. One very enjoyable moment for once.
Thanks again bozo and GP as well.

Thank you very much jangel. I should have known this before doing it. 7 days may have been a bit too long. They are a bit crispy but stilll feel pretty nice.
Thank you again hun for all the fantastic help.
Love and hugs
