Male or female? too soon to tell?
Hey everyone.. So i was just looking at my plant and notice it has Very little ball shape things on eatch node but my plant is still Pretty Young.. I'm not sure if its a Male or just to young to look like the female yet.. This is my first grow so im kinda clue less..
Here are some pics but kinda blury..
Also my other question is, IF it is a MALE how long can i let it grow before i have to worry about it spreading pollen?

I can't tell from that angle. (Though I am no expert.) Usually if I see hairs crossing it's a girl. (From my limited experience.)

here's a couple of close-ups that should help clarify.
1) early male flower
2) early female flower

yours is still too young yet, looks to be about 6 to 8 wks old.
marijuana plants don't really become sexually mature until about 3 months
old and they will display their readiness by beginning to grow asymmetrically,
meaning that the nodes will alternate on the stem rather than growing in
pairs.
until they start growing with the alternating nodes, they look pretty much
the same, male or female.
kinda like human infants, unless you dress them in pink or blue, or you look
under the hood, you can't tell one from another.
anyway, here's a couple pics to illustrate what i mean.
btw, i didn't mention it before so i wanted to say that, while still young, lol,
your plants look very healthy, kudos to you for the good work, keep it up.

Really nice but too early yet. I just went thru this same deal but after some closer examination and all the help I got on here I was able to identify the males and remove them from the room way early. Ya got plenty of time to MAKE SURE.
Nice job and keep us posted.
Peace,
Med

The pics look male to me......clearly so.....males usually develop first...what you do with them is up to you....grow them separate for butane/alcohol extraction.....grow them separate for pollen storage....let them just seed up your girls for later breeding programs....or just make it part of the mulch pile (but not were anyone would recover it as evidence)
I missed..did you just have one plant? If so you can see why some prefer feminized seeds...it is just too much work and too much emotional attachment to grow males that may have to be "put down"
Sorry about the male...but as far as smoking it will be a disapointment.
On the plus side you clearly grew a nice healthy plant so you have the skills to eventually get quality female buds!

Yeah i just had the one.. This plant has been thru so much with me..
It started from a Seed a good friend gave me while back ago,
This plant is what has made me Buy all my equipment and my nutes and everything Ive done in the past 2 months so it does really suck.. But while this one has been growing i always knew in the back of my mind it could be Male so while this has been growing, i Picked up some clones from a Club down the street from my house..
And thay have been doing good So i Know i have some True females on my hands now.. so im pritty happy with that..
So even tho it is a Male, it has made me Build so much more of a pro Setup for future Grows and It has Made me learn ALL this knowledge about growing and has taught me So much.. In a way i think its really perpared me for The next step.. and Its really created this passion i now have for growing..
With that being said, Here are my New FEMALES that will not fail me =D..

Sucks that it was a male, but you got a good grow setup started now. Growing the clones you won't have to worry about more males and wasted time and money. Keep us posted with the new clones so we can see your progress.

well maybe keep some pollen and fertalize a few buds to memorialize this male that has given you no smoke directly, but seems to have opened you to growing better and more smoke.

mornin' little brother. i just wanted to say that you shouldn't feel too bad
your plant has turned out to be male for a couple of reasons.
first because it has inspired you to become a grower for real and not be
just a guy who popped a seed for s h i t s and giggles.
second it should have proved to you, beyond doubt, that you can grow weed.
you can pop a seed and raise the resulting weak little seedling up to become
a healthy, vigorous plant. it's just bad luck it turned out to be male.
and now that you have some females for sure, i'd suggest you hold one back
and turn it into a mother while you flip the others, assuming they are all the
same strain.
if not and they're all from different strains then i'd suggest you turn them all
into mothers and, when they get a bit bigger, you take cuttings from each
yourself to flower.
that way, if it happens that one of your new girls produces that special killer
bud that you just love, you will have saved a mother for it so you won't
have lost it forever with the harvest.
that way, you'll be able to continue to take cuttings, flower those cuttings
and enjoy that special killer bud for years into the future.
so keep up the good work and i promise you, you will see that there is no
bud as sweet as the one you grew yourself.
