Default when to flower

I topped my plants a few days ago and they never did stop growing and height is an issue I only have about 30" of room. The plants are from bag seed so I don't know much about them other than they smoke good

How long do I have to wait after topping before I can switch to flower?
Also is it better to switch from 18/6 to 12/12 gradually or just switch.

What are the leaf shapes like? Are the fingers of the leaves fat or narrow? If narrow they could be sativa and they can go tall. Let us know. If you have hieght issues then start them soon to flower. Take clones first to shorten the hieght as they will still grow and gain in hieght, about double in size during flowering.

Peace

You can start whenever your babies build enough root bulk - means you can see some roots growing along the pots wall.
Most strains take 4-6 weeks to mature, after that point a plant can yield its maximum, clones take from such a plant keep their genetic age so you can work with matured plants yet you start flower on a couple inch tall clones (see Sea of Green/ SOG growing on this).

And no graduation on switching from veg to flower is needed, some actually keep their babies for a day or to in total darkness before firing up the HPS as they claim that this would speed up flowering.

I really like this forum much more than some of the other ones I belong to. Thanks so much for the quick reply's and all the info that everyone provided.

I had thought about doing sog but that is a lot of plants. I might do scrog or lst next time. I am thinking about cutting some clones off and marking which plant they came from so I can know which ones are female after i start to flower that way I can pull the males out and have only female clones which I think would make doing scrog much easier.

I would post some pictures but I have to say that really makes me vervous.

Like was mentioned you can put them in flower whenever you wish and if they are sativa you are definitely going to have height problems. With the limited amount of height you have I'd certainly be LST'ing the plants. Lst is the best way to maximize your grow especially with height restrictions.

Ya Bro, When You Flip Them 12/12 They Are Going To Double In Size, So Like Has Been Said, LST, Or A SCROG Might Be Your Best Bet.

Some other things that come to mind when flowering is making sure the plaant is mature, waiting 2 months to flower, making sure you have at least 6 nodes or the main way to know if the plant is mature is if it has alternating nodes.

high man, here are a couple of illustrations that will help explain what is
meant by 'alternating nodes'. a picture is worth a thousand words.

You are welcome !!!!!!!!

What are you going to do since you have your questions answered ? Are you going to try some LST ? I think with your limited height LST is the best way to go.
