What is the most practical/ affordable pump for a DWC?
I'm gonna be shopping for a pump, but I need the advice of the members here first. What kind of pump or what brand should I get, or what kind is best for DWC?
I'm at your mercy....

fatman...
The GH dual diaphragm is around $60..but it's a good pump and you can replace the diaphragm in it when it wears out.
http://www.genhydro.com/genhydro_US/airpumps.html
The MaxO2 pumps also work well. A bit noisy but they push some air.

Larger pumps are available on Ebay. I found a nice pump used for filling the floats on a boat lift...$60. Should move some serious air....
search "pond aeration" also. Lotsa stuff will come up.
btdt
good luck

Thanks, man, I appreciate it. I'm talking about a 25 gallon tub w/ 4 plants. Given those specs, what would you recommend?

Hey fatman, early post I thought you were wanting a water pump.Sorry I didnt get it.I use a topfin XP125 air pump with two outlets and two 5" stones. The pump will run a 125 gal fish tank for fish. This one is the best I have found for $20.00 at petmart and they have the 5" air stones too.lots of bubbles.Wally world has pumps from $10.00 to $20.00 by AQUA and TETRA both will do jsut fine in one DWC bucket with two 6" stones. If they brake they are cheap to replace. That my take on it.PEACE

I am on my 2nd cheapo(not wisper0 from walmart the first one had 1 side go bad. CHeck the anti siphon valves .1 of the included valves went bunk (no flow either way)on me and I think that is what killed it. So I am prolly going to get a whisper
, The wife has kept fish for many years and says that wispers are very reliable over may years.

That's for sure,I meet a labrat on another site last year and she told me of a study of vegs hydro grow and fish all in the same tank.Talk about good food that's healthy for you.Hydro just blows me away with what can be done with it.We all better learn what we can about hydro and past it on to are children if we dont stop the greenhouse meltdown of the Antarctica there wont be life as we know it.The earths natural air condition and stop killing the planet.Mother nature dose alot but she is losing to the humans pretty fast.PEACE
