Also how's the growing with these LED systems? There is alot too read but isnt enuff info ya know.. Whats the best LEDs i can use I dont want to spend the 2 grand im looking to get a few its a 10 x 3 area... What do you think I should do?

hey there. have you checked out the rest of our LED section? theres a thread or two on types of lights. as well as a DIY set up for the leds.
like you said theres not much info to go around so far as the technology is pretty new. but still ask around with the led guys they'll put you on track in no time

good luck with them. i think they are surely the future , at least for veg anyway.
its is great to see so many experimenting and willing to experiment with the new technology. but like you say its expensive.
i guess you'll have to DIY for it to be cheap.

Be very very careful buying LED's off ebay. I have heard of many people being ripped off by these sellers. Before you buy, run it past our tried and true LED growers and they will let you know what they think.
Act in haste and buy quickly and regret it. Act slowly and do the research and you will find your best buy and be happy.
Good luck
Peace

Wow this took me forever to get onto.. Thanks for all the info guys.. Now for the lowryders how did you make out with them the up keep etc etc? I'm making my own watering system etc etc.. Also what if I got that system and replaced all the LEDs with my own.. Of course it will take time and I could put a comp fan in there to vent it.. I think I'm going the LED route thou I want to keep my electric down..

Can u show me ur ufo light that you used? | One light for an area that big is unrealistic. I have three of them in a smaller area than this but they work incredibly well There are different spectrums and different types of l.e.d.s The Christmas lights you see people use these days are mainly l.e.d.'s. They look wonderful on houses to decorate but don't do much in the growing department. UNFORTUNATELY some greedy buggers have taken advantage of people's ignorance and decided to sell those leds as grow lights. Not good. As J angel says: buyer beware. KNOW your stuff before purchasing. There are some l.e.d's that need to be so close to your plants that it is almost pointless where there are others that penetrate a lot more. Its mainly in the led bulb technology. Also just like the H.I.D lights, led lights have their own veg and flowering spectrums. Don't be fooled into thinking there is a one for ALL l.e.d unless it is an adjustable spectrum. THOSE are the best but are extremely expensive at the moment because it is new. There are also schematics that you can follow to make your own led light. If you are good at soldering they are not difficult. Good luck to you. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Lacy For This Useful Post: | |

I bought four of the small blue LED panels roughly 16"x16" and used them to start my plants for growing outdoors this summer and was real happy with the results... those lil' pups loved the LED's. I plan to get one of the UFO set-ups as soon as I get a room set-up.
I ran the lights 24/7 until mother earth took over and didn't even notice the slightest difference in power consumption! Beats the heck outa' a buddy who pays like $1300/mo. for power... I'll even dig'm a lot more when I am producing my own clean green energy!
