Rep Power: 500 | | What Co-operative Sites CAN do! Cannacare In the spirit of sharing information and knowledge I was asked by our own ISO2BWELL to come by cannacare and share info with those fine folks on LST'ing. I also felt they would benefit from knowledge we had here so I shared with them our richs of wisdom. Out of this this first project grew.
This is not my work, but Granny Storm Crows list....and what it wrought. I have been aware of this project from the start and now I have permission to post this and give this as a true example of what we are trying to achieve with sharing of knowledge and information. This is what it is about and if you truely wish to see excitement you should of seen me when I first read the brainstorming for this project.
We can ALL start this type of thing. In our own way. Our own projects. We just have to dare to do it and know we will succeed.
And this is how we will eventually gain Legalization World Wide, with cooperating with each other. Granny's List is meant to be the most complete collection of medical marijuana links anywhere. It was inspired by the list of medical links that Storm Crow (aka Granny) has so diligently maintained over the years. The goal of the project is to make a resource available online that will allow patients to very quickly and easily find articles and studies regarding cannabis which are relevant to their particular medical conditions. So, for example, a patient could quickly and easily click a few buttons and find themselves presented with a list of "regular Joe" level resources about how cannabis affects arthritis. It will also give the patient hard-core scientific data that they can refer to their physician - and that might save someone's life some day! That's why this project is so important to us. Not only could such a resource be valuable for patients, but it could also be a boon for medical and legal professionals, as well as anyone interested in broadening their horizons on the subject of medical marijuana. It is intended to be community-powered, so there's no telling what form it might end up taking. That's the fun part of all this. We're creating a resource that is seeded with some data. But, the lion's share will come after that, when people start submitting new links and volunteering to be editors and evaluators. Then, we'll really see what's going on! Without getting too technical, the application is driven by a MySQL database and is written in PHP5. It is categorized, fully-searchable and data is easy to link, print or email. The focus, from top to bottom, is on usability. If it's not intuitive and easy-to-use, what good is it, right? Each resource is rated by volunteers, called evaluators. We don't rely on a single evaluation by a single individual, though. That wouldn't be any good. Instead, each resource is evaluated at least five times and programming logic is used to decide how to proceed from there. Most resources will be published at that point, with a few going upstream to be further evaluated at a higher level, so to speak. When it is finally online, the general public will be able to submit links and Granny's List will grow and grow! The way it's designed, it will always be easy to navigate and, since it's a custom application, it's screaming fast! We really think the world needs a resource like this and we're enjoying making it a reality. --------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you Cannacare for your vision to see the possibilities and Granny for starting this brilliant work. You both are truely before your time.

Kids, this is how it's supposed to be! Knowledge being freely shared, not hoarded like some miser's gold! The vision that J-angel, Michael and I all share, is one that transcends not just sites, but national borders. As a plant, cannabis recognizes no borders, it grows freely, worldwide- knowledge about cannabis should be the same way.
Knowledge unshared, is knowledge wasted!
Each of us has our own gifts and talents. I happen to be a pretty good researcher. Michael is a "code monkey". J-angel introduced us (and did more behind the scenes). The result will be a new kind of resource for all of us to use! My list was good, but this is going to be FAR better!
A few volunteers joined in once things got rolling. Now look what is happening with just a tiny handful of us cooperating! What will it be like when we all cooperate?

I have to tell you all that Storm Crow is our biggest supporter and has done masterfully in starting all of this by posting on many many sites about what we are trying to do.
Storm Crow, you are the best!

Storm Crow is a kind a gracious soul,
And didn't go looking for rewards for this gathering of information.
In turn she has offered it to the world, and we will help make it seen by the masses.
Thank you so much for your contribution to mankind...
Peace

truely genuine. Wish I had such a knowledgeable granny
These are the types of services that should be offered around town, and funded by the people. Just like any type of Social services center to help with the physically or mentally impaired. Heck even a hotline for unaware people with ailments could help countless numbers of people. You put some effort in to help the less fortunate, or the inconvenienced and the profits will come raining down on us all. Just take the housing market for example. If theres any type of work to be done and you need volunteers, Im ready to help at anytime.

Thank you sweetie, we just might call on you! At least you GET it. Many don't GET IT and that hurts. Some are so stuck they cannot see outside of the box.
Please also take a look at the OGG 2009 post. This is something everyone every where can take a part in.
Peace
