Rep Power: 500 | | Two Different Doctors' Offices Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same Complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement. The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week. The SECOND sees a VA doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then. Why the different treatment for the two patients? The FIRST is a Golden Retriever The SECOND is a Veteran.
It's a real shame this is not a joke.
I hope some of the change we see in "09" is a better treatment of our Veterans.
Peace

Yep that is the way it is unfortunately. A lot of BS in the VA. If you need ortho work it is over a two year wait.

Yup. The VA is a joke. I hate the VA!!!!! They suck ass. I've been trying to get adreal from them for my learning disability and they keep giving me the run around. So I've been going to a private doctor. At the VA they have second class drugs. If the drugs don't have a generic version you can forget it cause it's not available for you. If you brake a leg or so and try to go to the ER you will have to wait at least 3 hours to be seen by a doctor. If you have friend that is about to commit suicide and you call the VA they will tell you to call the local hospital.

I can't recall, anytime in my whole life, I don't recall any Vet. that I have had conversation with or have listened to their story dealing with the VA, not one good word about the system, I was just recently speaking to a Vet. saying he has to spend the loads of extra money to see a Doctor outside of the VA system, He doesn't get proper care at the VA hospital, Men and Woman are being misdiagnosed. I have heard stories of people being told they had maybe just a hernia and was sent home to only be getting sicker, come to find out they had cancer.. I worked in a VA Nursing facility, now any nursing facility is the pits as far as getting good care but come on people, this is the government still to this day letting this happen to the men and women who fought for us to free, and being free should mean great medical care for our Vets for everyone... I pray to one day and it be soon, To see our Vets get all they deserve. The ones that are in charge of it all, how do they over over look what little is done, how do they sleep at night. I have to stop now,,, I don't need to go on and on, It just really stirs me up.....

Much of the problem with the VA comes from the gross lack of funding/staffing from the government. Its not the military that decides how much money and resources they get or it would be much different, its some bureau bum who has never served making that choice. I've never used the VA myself cause I know that my aggressive personality would not allow that situation to end well for anyone. Its a truly disgusting fact that the veterans are so poorly treated by our government and it takes caring civilian organizations to try and come in and fill the gaps to make a little difference. I strongly suggest volunteering at a VA medical facility if you want to make a difference yourself, for many men and women coming back, someone to talk to and to listen to them who understands is worth more than any medical care they can get.
It makes me tear up thinking about it, and that's not an easy thing to do. I HATE seeing those brave men and women treated so badly, and will openly and aggressively stand up for them when I see it done in public by some punk who doesn't get the point. I've been treated poorly for being a vet and wouldn't wish that feeling of "what the f@#k" on anyone.
