Rep Power: 175 | | From JPB GOOD HUNTING! A story with a happy ending! This nineteen-year-old ex-cheerleader (now an Air Force Security Forces Sniper) was watching a road that led to a NATO military base when she observed a man digging by the road.. She engaged the target (i.e., she shot him). Turned out he was a bomb maker for the Taliban and he was burying an IED that was to be detonated when a US patrol walked by 30 minutes later. It would have certainly killed and wounded several soldiers.
The interesting fact of this story is the shot was measured at 725 yards. She shot him as he was bent over burying the bomb. The shot went through his butt and into the bomb which detonated; he was blown to pieces. The Air Force made a motivational poster of her: (Folks, that's a shot 25 yards longer than seven football fields!) And the last thing that came out of this Terrorist's mouth..was...his @ss! | | The Following 8 Users Say Thank You to GSR For This Useful Post: | |

I dont think I would say a word around her when it's her time of the month.PMSing and she has a big gun too.She stated what she thinks of them, shooten in the ass. they should make a game of it,who can hit the buthole at 725 yds or more.Great shot she made and I mean that.I came out with a Master from the corp, but she has it over alot of them that's for sure. Peace

Glad to hear that there are some other Master Shooters out there... Toke, you rock man! While in the Navy, I joined the 12 Navel shooting team. After a couple years of practice and competitions, I was able to make Master and got a 3rd place in the Nation. Shot a 290 out of 300 at 600yds with open sights. I love an M14.... Luck and Life.

Nim,
I do a fair amount of shooting and I wouldn't even play with open sights at 600 yards, May I ask the shape/size/color of the target? God lord man that's good shooting!
Thanks,

You bet GSR, inbetween rounds we had to work the butts, the target at 600 yards is 7 foot wide, the black dot is... 5.5 foot across The very center 10 ring is 20 inches across, and it's the tinyest thing I've ever sighted on. It gets real noisy with all that highpower lead flying over your head. I was pumped the day I got my medal. Wearable on the Dress Blues as were all my military competition medals. Also represented the Navy on Civilian competitions. But couldn't wear their medals on my uniform. I had fun.

I loved that M-14 too Nim. I shot a 49 at 600 yards. 49 out of 50 that is and the last shot was a wart 4. I'd like to have one but the $4500 price tag is a little high for me.
The bull when I went to the range was 18"
I want to applaud you on your accomplishments, obviously a good guy to have on your side.

id say im impressed, but women are excellent marksmen. not to brag, but i did quite well in all of my qualifications. and my best was always nightfire. i think this was because i felt more on edge imagining all the terrible things i could endure if attacked in the dark. now i have an expert marksmen badge i can do nothing with. but it makes me feel good to know I could challenge most men and come out on top! oy yeah baby, I say Hoooah!!!

I loved the M14. Boot camp score would have been 238 out of 250, but, one of my DI's was hinting that the recruit next to me needed 3 bulls to qualify. This was at 500 meters. I took the hint, and put my last 3 shots in the bull on the target to the left of mine. So, I wound up as sharpshooter, while the guy next to me qualified and won the "toilet seat".
As an incentive to do well, the highest scoring shooter from each platoon, was to ride the bus to San Onofre. The rest of the platoon/company were to get there by "force march". When we were forming up after breakfast, one of the DI's asked to see my canteen. It was gone. He said, "We can't have you going on this "stroll" without water." He acted like he was really pissed at me, and instructed me to go to wait for the bus, with the high shooters (and cripples).
Some of my platoon didn't know that I had so generously (like I had some choice in the matter) given up my last 3 shots so another member of my platoon would qualify. They were upset that I got to ride the bus. I felt bad, briefly, when I saw them march onto the parade deck at San Onofre. They looked sooooo ragged and wiped out.
