Okay, the site is back up and clean now, so it's all good. That wasn't too bad, though I talked to quite a few people in the Linux IRC channels that were affected and had browsers infected.
It just goes to show you that you gotta be careful on the net, even if you steer clear of questionable websites.
If you use Firefox, you may want to consider adding the award winning "NoScript" plugin/add on for Firefox.
You can go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 to download it and check it out. Quote: |

Fatman,
Your post, earlier, suggested visiting Photobucket...I take it that was a bad idea?
So, for those of us computer illiterate folks out there that went to the site via your link, can you tell me what the virus is, and how to kill it?

Yeah, I was hoping to put the edit up before anyone did, after I found out.
All you need to do is delete ALL private data from your browser's cache.
To do that, just goto>tools and delete or "clear" your private data. Be sure to delete it all, including cookies and you'll be fine.
If you are running Windows, you'll want to do a system scan to be safe.
That should be it.
If your browser was infected, then you would have noticed that you would be randomly redirected to a Asat website optimization and hosting site.
It was a real pain in the ass until it was determined what it was. That's why it pays to frequent the IRC channels. It's like interactive internet news, but from the people, not BS from the government.
You need anything else, just let me know.
Peace,
theFATMAN

No worries Fatman. After I read your post on it I ran a full virus scan on my computer. Over 575,000 files and it found -0- issues. CA Antivirus suite...never let me down yet. Never had a redirect at all.

there are not alot of harmful programs that can be picked up just by surfing the web and like fat man said clearing your cache file will kill the problem as all they can do is redirect you... nothing to worry about.

GSR, hey bud, sorry to hear that it got you too.
Have you cleared all private data, even cookies and browser history?
If that didn't work, then goto your temporary internet folder, and delete it's content.
The IE browser was affected the most, given it's inherent vulnerabilities, so if you're using IE, it'll be a tad more difficult to clean, but not too bad.
See, the thing is, it's in your system, but the entry was through your browser, so anything related to your browser needs to be cleaned.
If you're using Windows, you should have an option to do that built in.
It's in the control panel, or could be in the "Manage" options when you right-click the computer icon.
If that still doesn't work, then send me a PM, and we'll get it taken care of.
Worst case scenario, you'll have to do a fresh install of your browser.
