Parents: How to restrict a users logon hours

To restrict a users logon hours, use the net user command. These commands are used from the Command Prompt.
(Start button - RUN - and type cmd)

Below are some examples:

1 - net user Joanna /time:M-F,08:00-17:00

2 - net user Ninja /time:M-F,8am-5pm

3 - net user Echelon /time:M,4am-5pm;T,1pm-3pm;W-F,8:00-17:00

4 - net user Shine /time:all (this one means this user can always log on)

Note:You can only restrict when a user can log on to the system. On a stand alone computer, there is no way to force a user to log off when their hours expire, without a third party script or software.

My school tried to use this to keep kids from sneaking on computers during lunch and after school. took all of about 2 days to get by.. btw in XP there tweaks that let small ones by these things, XP is secure.. but not that secure. kids commonly replace the tools.exe with CMD.exe in their program paths. so that when you press ctrl + T CMD opens up in the login screen, and everything is undone if the kid knows CMD. All of this is easilly found on google too.. so it really isn't far fetched.

Easy way to restrict time on comp. Just change the password so the kids can't just jump on it....

also, is that not us then limiting their right of freedom of speech too?!!

i bet my would give me such a command to such regulations

as a parent, i am responsible for guiding my girls, so it is my decision until they are legal adults.
also, restricting time on the ol' PC does in no way affect the right of freedom of speech. =)
