Not to mention all the poor people who gave them $50 to "Protect" their PC! Not to mention it didn't even work. Going to look up bios flash stuff. | OK sabasi get rid of that Kernel and get into 10 or better. Let me know if ya have it or not and if ya dont I can send you a free copy one way or the other. 7.0 is way old and i'm not sure if open source even still backs that version/Kernel anymore. Another thing are you by chance on AMD 64 bit Processor Based Socket? Intel 64 is fine but 64bit amds are tricky but I also have a Kernel fix for that so let me know. I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

P.S. Dont Flash The BIOS Yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do wait before you do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many a board has been corrupted in flashing so we dont wanna do that till it is absolutely the last fix option and even then you chance screwing up your primary and secondary IDEs.

I don't have a newer copy of the linux. Too scared at the moment to even hook it up as a slave in the other machine. Was running macaffee. At this point I just want to sue the bastards for the money to replace my motherboard, cpu and hard drive. THIS is the WORST scam I have EVER seen or heard of. People are spending small fortunes to fix their pc's and Best Buy is raking in a fortune off of it. If only I would have tried all this when it FIRST happened, but it burrowed itself into the bios and here I sit. This has literaly brought me to tears.

I had something similar..it was antivirus xp pro or something like that..had a blue screen of death..and a big black box telling my computer was infected..and was shutting down in 60 seconds. which it did. My machine went haywire...
I got it out by getting a flash drive and downloading onto it:(at the library)
1. Combofix...this is what got it..
2.malwarebytes anti malware
3.google pack with spyware doctor (free with google pack)
Booted in to safe mode(not bios) and ran all three programs
finally able to boot up in regular mode..ran em again..problem solved

Rep Power: 117 | | Whew! Just got done putting new puter together! Alll night long lol Most of the time has been reinstalling software...yawn yawn So I got new Asus M3A78-EM motherboard with a nice lil AMD Athlon II 3.0G CPU and a fast Seagate 500g 3.0Gps access speed. Ahhhhhhh So for the moment, I am gonna download all the cool lil proggies that everyone suggested and maybe later, if I can get the courage up, putting my HD back in that is infected as a slave and see if I can't get SOME of my stuff off of it. So $220 later and I'm back in the game!! Thanks much guys!!!!!!!!! |

Rep Power: 117 | | Ok, I have my resume and reference letters on the hard drive that has police pro on it. I need to get to them but am too scared to hook it up into new puter. I just need a quick fail safe way to do this so it doesn't ruin my good bios. Can someone walk me through that process please? It's just been awhile, thanks much in advance!!! |

your best bet is to download the latest Knoppix or Ubuntu Live CD/DVD and load the computer into either, then you can safely browse for the files and scan them, then copy them from the slave HDD to your new one. make sure your anti-virus and anti-malware/spyware is set to load in windows at start up.
it will work.

dont worry. linux can read windows, but windows cannot read linux, so a virus for a windows based system is ineffective on a linux box.
