Rep Power: 113 | | Microsoft Police Pro problems
Hi all, This has got to be the WORST problem I have ever had!! My PC is to the point that you can't use the keyboard after saving to bios and can't reformat cuz I don't have keyboard to select format. I have read for 3 HOURS on how to fix this but rebooted too many times and now it has burrowed itself to the point of keyboard remapping of sorts. I can't find anything else to help but to put the hard drive in another pc to format it as a slave. I really don't want to do this. I haven't been this pissed off in over 10 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This also infects any flash drives also. Can it get ANY worse? Wish I would have done everything in the threads I found about this god-forsaken virus! I know it's not a virus but it might as well be!!! *.exe files won't even run. Arg! It's a relatively new scam out there and my AV software never detected it. So I am hoping that one of you could point me in the right direction??? Thanks MUCH in advance!!!!! |

I have read all the threads on this and I just waited too long to fix it. Running Winxp with sp3, 2G ram, 1 terra HD. When this first started, I got a screen that was advertising this program, I didn't ask for it. Was looking for a PS3 emulator-no such thing yet lol This program INSISTS that you pay them $50 to get rid of malicious ware and all the rest of the crap. Sorry, no smoke here at the moment-thanks again to LAZY dealer!! So I have vodka...This virus took over the pc making it impossible to go into registry, reformat or run ANY exe files. Everyone else got the fix online but I just had to wait DUH!!! Every reboot made things worse!! Even a bootable cd doesn't work becuase it locked up my keyboard so it would boot right into windows-till I removed the HD!! I have been reading that peeps have been able to use a flashdrive to get the fix and boot from that but like I said, my keyboard doesn't work after entering bios and saving, then it goes right into windows where you can't run anything with an EXE file. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-windows-police-pro That is a screenshot of what this looks like. I got the malaware software but when clicked on it, it won't execute. Worked for everyone else, but like I said, every reboot puts you further away from the fix. So if I can't get rid of this crap, it will be the FIRST time ever I have to replace a motherboard and hard drive because of this problem. I have gotten rid of ALOT of viruses and junk before now, but this one is kicking my nerdy ass!! I am on a mission to see these peeps behind bars for all the damage they have cuased! One poor guy took his PC to Best Buy and they fixed it for $200!!! I could have recovered that one easy but mine is WAY too hosed! |

you may have to flash the BIOS, but before going that far, download and burn a copy of knoppix live, run that, and see if you are able to access the hdd from the live disk.
let me know what happens, and just be patient, i have worked around some real nightmares before, trust me

These little pricks who thought this scam up should be hung by their TINY Balls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They are being investigated but I wanna see blood!!!! Sorry, like I said, I haven't been this pissed off in well over 10 yrs now!!Vodka going down good but I MUCH prefer THC!!Knoppix is all I have left to try, thanks! dont sweat it. yeah, you definitely need some bud, lol. i will be up late, so i will monitor this thread. i would suggest that you read up a little in the linux and knoppix forums, before launching it, but either way, you'll be fine. you will have to get acclimated to the desktop, especially after being a windows user. dont fret though, if you have ever played a video game, you know there is a learning period when you first play it. but you get used to it, same thing here. if you have any questions, let me know. you might even get hooked, lol. its a cool desktop. if they still have the voice confirmations, then you'll definitely like it. good luck. useful info more useful info

you can also download the latest version of ubuntu and use the live cd to scan it. You will have to mount the windows drive with write access. Is this a ps2 or usb keyboard? do you have another one available at all?
From reading the description of that, it looks like some fairly nasty spyware. no wonder your a/v didn't catch it.
when your machine boots up, do you get any lights on the kb at all?
another idea is if you have another machine available, install MBAM on it ( http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...mbam-setup.exe ), put your drive in the other machine set as a slave and scan it that way.

you can, but you have to use a program called Cedega. unfortunately, its $5 a month, sold in 3 month increments. :(
also, most windows programs can run and be installed in linux through a program called Wine. i dont think it supports World of Warcrack, but it does support many games. i use to play "Prey" on it when i ran a linux box.

Rep Power: 115 | | i only suggested knoppix to help you recover your system. not to replace it, though i wouldnt blame you. to be honest, as a guy who is a gamer and has used various distros of linux, windows xp, vista and 7, i gotta say that windows 7 wins hands down. it is as fast as any linux distro, and there are no real compatibility issues so you do not need to deal with lengthy work arounds to get things 100% working. so what if linux has compiz-fusion, i love eye candy, and windows 7 has enough for me. plus i can game till my hearts' content. PM me for more info.

Rep Power: 113 | | OK found an old linux ubuntu 7.0 and it booted but just hangs. So is it possible to flash the bios and take out the infected hard drive? I really do not want to spend $200 to build a new system, rather spend $200 on seeds. If I ever find this little 12 year old punk who thought this scam up, I would do damage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention all the poor people who gave them $50 to "Protect" their PC! Not to mention it didn't even work. Going to look up bios flash stuff. | | The Following User Says Thank You to sabasi For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
