was the install on that machine an oem install of vista? oem installs are bloated and usually have tons of stuff that no one ever uses.
How much ram do ya have in it?
one thing ya could try is to right click on my computer, select properties.. Then in the box that comes up, click on the advanced tab, then the performance button. Click the radio button that says something about ".. best performance". In that same area somewhere there is a setting for your swap file too.. set that statically to about 2 times the amount of ram you have (I typically set that at 1536 or 2048 MB)
(**Note** -- I am recalling these destructions from memory and i don't use M$ products)
you can also try the puter tools listed under the "computer maint" menu on the top of the site too.. Top 10 Windows Vista Tips and Tricks To Increase Your Gaming Performance – Make Tech Easier | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to SomeDude For This Useful Post: | |

i use Revo Uninstaller which is free, and Tune Up Utilities 2009 which is very good at removing any junk and maintaining your pc automatically.

I'm not sure if it's a problem with my browser or what. I use firefox, but I've tweaked the settings so sometimes things act a little sketchy.

if by oes install you mean factory install yep. and it does come with alot of stuff i dont need, dont use and cant get rid of (ok i understand its impossible to uninstall IE, butwhy do they do this stuff when all you want is an operable OS with no crap on the side?
so today i went searching through the links and stuff. the registry cleaner link in the main menu's 'comp maint' but the links dont work. like chuckd stated.
thanks for the support guys.
