Rep Power: 35 | | What’s on your Garbage? I’m just wondering what we have to be careful of when putting garbage out. I grind up my small stems, some seeds etc. and spread them outside the house as suggested in “Never Get Busted” to make any drug dog go nuts before he even gets into the house, should that ever happen. I have ample space to compost anything incriminating. My real question is, can they get a search warrant just from a dog “striking” on the smell in or on a garbage bag even if they can’t find anything in it? There are bound to be odors from my fingers alone on the bags. Is this something to worry about? THANKS for your input, Tex |

i would think it would be something to worry about. I personally wear non-latex gloves when handling my garden then I throw the gloves away in a public dumpster when I leave the house. I compost or decompose everything left over after harvest. I put stems and dirt and whatever leaves I'm not keeping inside of a five gallon bucket, put about two gallons of water in with it, then put the lid on and sit it in the sun. after a couple weeks there is nothing left to tell what kind of plant it was or that there even was a plant in there. I then use that mix to even out my lawn and I plant grass seed in it. Works out good so far. I also don't put my garbage out until the morning of pick up, my pick up is usually between 8 and 11am so i'll put the cans out about seven thirty. Cops are less likely to be digging through your stuff in the day time when people are looking at them. I really don't worry too much about that stuff right now though because the only people that know what i'm doing are my patients and my wife, so they can find whatever they want and they can't do much with it.

Smell alone doesn't authorize a warrant

What brought it to mind was the fact that a "strike" by a drug dog on your vehicle authorizes a search. Would a "strike" by a drug dog on your garbage authorize a search of your home? It appears to be the same criteria. Bullhocky in my opinion. yet possible?
THANKS folks,
Tex

Laws differ from area to area...but in general...my understanding is that "trash" can be searched without a warrant....and if found, evidence of a crime can then be used to obtain a warrant for the premises. In short...when you place your trash on the curb it is open to any/all scrutiny.
Be smart. Don't put cannabis-related material in your trash.
however, make sure you scoop up all of the dog**** in your yard and put a bit in each bag you sit out on the curb...in the chance that *someone* other than the trashman decides to pick it up..... LOL
be safe

I buddy of mine got busted cause of the stuff he put in the trash.Got out of it cause he say I dont know if you or somebody els put it there. His can was in the pick up area as was 10 other poeples trash cans.Who knows if somebodys can was full and they put it in a can that wasnt full. This is funny cause after that leo was checking all the time,He brought some skunk scent and would spair it in the can.It took one time and after that and they left his cans alone. That cop got all skunk up and it got in the car too and on everything he touched that day.His fellow cop buddys started calling him stinky skunk man.I love it when they get caught doing stupid stuff. Peace

Peace | Lol I don't have any skunk scent, but I'm going to take ww's advice and spread the litter box leftovers throughout the garbage just for fun. Before I'd always wrap it up separate, but not any more. I like to share. I have no reason to believe LEO is after me, but I don't like people snooping in my stuff, garbage or not, anyway. This'll give them reason to leave it alone.
Peace,
Tex

Rep Power: 35 | | Doh! It seems there are ground up stems and seeds all around the garbage pick-up area. Take a sniff of that, Fido! Peace, Tex |

A LEO I know told me how he and his partner told a couple of Mexicans they weren't supposed to have beer in their car, so they took a case of El Corona from them. He laughed at how stupid the Mexicans were. The term "abuse of power" came to mind. I wonder what happened to the "good guys"?

i keep rabbit in my yard, foliage that picked off during the grow goes there as well as all stems, branches and the mesh from leaves and sucker buds after bubble hash making. The soil and roots i dump into my compost to be recycled to grow tomatoes on other stuff on.
same goes for the equipment, pots get cleaned and reused, expended clay pellets get soaked for a week in 1% H2O2 and the used gloves go into the burning pit (on side covered in THC the other with your prints - you must be nuts not to burn em!). So besides bulbs and some inconclusive waste is nothing leaving my grow to sit at the curb, and then the stuff is well buried in the worst trash (Do I loved canned fish ). Quote:

I'll get right on it.

I have heard of people disposing of stems, seeds, leaves, etc. by chopping them up with the garbage disposal in the sink. It's basically like flushing it down the toilet but it chops it up on the way down. If LEO wants to get a strainer and go through raw sewage then best of luck. What a hoot it'd be to sit back and watch a couple of goons with a strainer and a bucket trying to find some shred of proof.
