I normally use a prepaid $100 Visa which only requires a name,addy,and email and just has to match the shipping address.I recently was in Walmart and they have Visa cards with a green dot which can be loaded up to $1500 maybe more.I would like to use this card ,but it says it requires a name addy and social security# to register the card.I want to use the card and have the merchandise shipped to another addy.Does anyone know how to get around this?Also in the past ive purchased seeds with a visa gift card that was registered in a friends name and sent them to his house.I had all his info on the card ,but used my email on the card and when i placed the seed order used my email so i could track the shipment.I got the seeds ok ,but want to know if i should worry about using my email and using my own computer to place the order.

As long as your not buying 1000.00 dollars worth at a time I wouldnt worry about it.Get a po box in your friends name and use that as address on the card and make up a ss#.How do they check your ss# at wal-mart.Use a hot mail account if you dont like using yours.I ordered and I got most 3 packs of 10 seeds each and use my visa card and e-mail.There after the big seed buyers.But still be careful anyway. Im not buying seeds with the card, i just want to use it to buy my lights and a tent from HTG or HID hut which will be a couple hundred dollars.The visa card that is loadable up to 1500 bucks says on it that u have to give a social, name and addy.I think you might have to give that info at the register or maybe if you register it online.I would like to use a p.o. box but most places wont ship to them.

Why are you so concerned about buying some hardware ? Breakage rates for bulbs is very high and depending on who receives it you'll need to tell the shipper immediately if the goods were damaged in transit. My Rabbi had a saying " Do the legal stuff legally, and the illegal stuff carefully"

I feel ya on that dilemma,I always use cash and go in person to get my stuff.I fortunety dont live far from a hydro store,maybe a ROAD TRIP is the ticket.What I do is this......make a detailed list of the things I'm gona need,I try to think ahead as to not forget anything I might need in the future,and stock up.Another thing I do is ...use a car or barrow one from someone who doesn't even smoke,not related to me,AND AT A DIFFERENT ADDRESS.Registration.Ive heard that vice often stakes out hydro stores,I don't know how much of that is verifiable,HOWEVER,regardless,I'm not taking any chances I dont need to.I also use pay phones when I call hydro stores as well.Call me PARANOID but security to me is of paramount importance.If going In person is not practical,I'm sure someone on heres gona hook you up ,if they haven't already.Hope this helps someone.PEACENLOVE.ADD ON,make a mental note of the vehicals in parking lot (ESPECIALY VANS WITH TINTED WINDOWS) and make a few stops on the way back home,be observent,not paranoid.I use my phone and take pictures of them.(vehicles of interest)LOL.

recently i found a hydro store near my house and used a friends car to go there.I called the hydro store on the way for directions from my cell phone .should i be worried?

Id have to say probably not,its illegal for them to tap a business anyway (without a warrent).However,cell phone calls just float through the air,anyone with the right equipment can pick em up.I never talk about anything of a (touchy nature)on a cell.Its a call and a drop by if we need to talk.I know this may sound extreme to some,to me however,they are fundamental and necessary.Not trying to scare anyone,just trying to possibly save you some heartache n pain.Good luck.PEACE.(luck is when preparedness meets opportunity.)

I work at Wal Mart and heres the deal, the green dot cards are loaded at the register, you have to call and activate them in order to use them, which is a completely different entity from Wal Mart, it's Visa. The reason you need a SS and addy and such is because the card you are buying is a temp card and they are going to send you another card in the mail with your name on it. The card is essentially reloadable only for the purpose of people who are not able to obtain a credit card but still need the ease of not using cash if ya dig? It's just a card for people to basically budget themselves better. So honestly by the time you're done its just like having another credit card, but with the balance of your choice.

If you buy the ones that already have a value associated with them. $25. $50. $100 etc. They are typically activated at the register when you pay and there is no personal information collected from you at all.

I tried to use a wal-mart prepaid visa to buy seeds in the UK & visa won't allow out of country transactions. it is written on the card & their website--. 911 fallout I suppose

I ordered from attitude with my debit card which read something else on my statement, online & paper. Way too many card trans to watch them all even with a puter

I also used my PO Box. I e-bay, some from overseas, same package/postmark.

It's been months so no worries here.

As far as this threads question I agree with everyone, Go to the store plus it's a fun shopping time. Lots of cool stuff. five hours round trip driving for me , not counting the time in the store.

I would love to drive to toronto for my next seed purchase.

with seeds, i like to send international money orders, it takes a bit longer to
get your beans but there is no paper trail.

for equipment, i like to find a store i can drive to and pay cash, and for the same
reason.
