Rep Power: 153 | | illegal grow security
As im sure your all aware (or i hope) the distribution, possesion, consumption, and cultivation of marijuana is illegal in the United States, and almost everywhere else in the world, is illegal. Having your crop ripped off by some theif of getting busted would be disastrous for a home grower just trying to grow his own meds. Here are some tips to keep your illegal grow room secure.
As you may face issues with home invaders depending where you live. a security system would seam like a logical solution to this right? but a sophisticated security system that notifies the company and the police when an alarm is triggered, could end up getting you busted itself. you want to create the illusion that your home is very well protected. what i did was fabricated some security decals and put them on my doors and windows, stating this house is secured by ADT. you could go as far as to put an alarm to sound just to scare them away, nothing that will notify police.
you also want to make your grow room completely light tight, but without having something as obvious as a black piece of plastic over the window that can be seen from the outside. hang a set of blinds or curtains on the outside of the plastic, so from the outside it only appears as a drapped off window, not a suspicuous looking tell.
Also keep a heavy duty lock on the grow room door, or a room leading to the grow area.
please post more tips if you have em.

I can not stress this enough and I'm sure I have tons of back on this statement. DO NOT USE HARMFUL/LETHAL DEVICES TO SECURE YOUR PLOT!! You know how the cops look at that? "These marijuana growers use bear traps, sawed off shotguns with tripwires, etc to protect their crop" That looks really bad on the cannabis community. Don't do it. There's a thing called camouflage. Use the native brush to your ability. I am aware that cannabis doesn't blend in with 90% of forests. Sh*t happens. I've heard of people use infrared systems that take pictures and/or start recording video when an object of particular size/temperature enters the vicinity. It won't help too much theft-wise but you can see if there's cops scoping your plot so you know just to lay low and forget about it, its gone. Some people use alarms connected to tripwires. These cause great amounts of attention but if you set them low enough to scare the person, they'll run. But please follow the Golden Outdoor Rule. Be creative and be safe.

Well said mogie.. thats for your own safety, and for representing the cannabis community as a whole. A safe subculture of growers growing for their own use, in the privacy of their home, using responsible discretion. Quote:

Yes Mogie you are right, you dont want any DEA to get hurt, then it become attempted murder along with the grow charge. This is a harmless detour and it works,Set up a trip snare. It dosent snare the person that trips it.It springs up with a stuff aminal that looks like a skunk tie to it and the kick is you put a whole bottle of skunk scent in it.When it springs and that odor hits the air you going to run away.PEACE

But, if the rig or its parts are detected when activating, you still lose your crop.

Another great way to improve security is to add lights to the outside of your home. Looking at your home from the street they can't see much if bright floodlights are staring them in the face. Tends to keep thieves away, too.

ISO | When we bought our house, the city was putting the power lines underground. When they finished they decided to move the streetlight from down the street to right in front of my house. At the time I was upset, but it does leave me with a sense of security. It's a 250wHPS on a 30' pole. Some flowers in my garden lean toward it at night. I don't have any trouble finding the keyhole, at all.

I would also say don't leave things laying around related to "growing stuff" like bags of dirt and perlite sitting in the corner with some flower pots in the other corner. Keep the stuff in a closet or better yet garage or basement if your not using that area :P

blinds and then a a wooden cover box over the window, if you have one in the area of the grow. that box can then be fitted with a flange for the exhaust air or air intake - but don't forget a filter if you use it for exhaust air.

If we did that here WE would be arrested, not the thief. No guns allowed in Canada without a permit. NO we do not have the right to bear arms in Canada or the U.K. But we have the right to have dogs with teeth! Muuuaaahhhaaahhhhaaa!!!!!

Hmmmm, I'll take 2 dogs and a few guns too. As long as you feel you are in danger and you shot them in the front and they are in your house make the shot count them let the dogs eat them hehehehe. Then call the cops. |
