Rep Power: 100 | | hello everybody, Question. Simular to the Heat Signature thread, but a little different, i was hoping
to express my concern/problem and scenario and you guys give me your best, honest opinion please. I Have a 6 and a half / 7 FT Metal Cabinet i was planning on growing in. 1ST QUESTION is Im very very concerned with being Infa red detected,
so im terrified of using a 400watt hps/ballast, because of the heat it puts off and the lack of proper ventilation i have, (seeing as how im renting and cant just start drilling/sawing/adding/removing parts fo the house) .. So is there any other light source you would recommend for a 2 plant grow,
in the 7 ft tall box?--that would only require ventilation of using a couple fans blowing in,
and a small fan blowing out??
-------------------- 2nd question is In all probability, what is the chances of getting busted by infared helicopter scanning, or the hand held devices some police forces have, that can catch a heat signature by pointing at your house? Do i lower the chances by NOT using the 400 hps/ballast ? But mainly what is the probability of such a small
grow
being busted????
Is there something i can line the Outside of the Metal cabinet with that would Keep the heat from being detected?? Thanks alot Im super paranoid, |

Hiya Contro, been a while, For the lighting I'd go with some CFL's, as many as you can wire into the metal cabnet. This is the double door job right? Make sure you are able to raise and lower the lights and/or the plants. Now you could use that 400. If you could invest in a cool tube it's workable.
Now the IR questions. The chances of being detected are higher if your grow area is close to or part of an outer wall of your house. Haveing this cabnet located in the center of your home would reduce the chance of being detected by helo or handheld. There are materials, kinda pricey IMHO, that block IR emissions. Do a Google search for IR blocker. But personally, I dont think they are looking for a 2 plant cabnet to bust, they would rather have something much larger. Looks better in the resume. Probably factor of bust?: 2-5% a cop living next door raised it to 5
Put a grin on and drop dem seeds in the dirt. Check over your shoulder, grin again, and add water. Turn on the lights and go play golf.

lol ^ hellyea man , Thanks for the response, Good to see ur still around tho
Yea it's the double door deal, think i'll stick with cfl's for the first indoor attempt.
Now if u would be so kind to answer the 3rd question ,
You said It would be best to put in the center of the house, but there is no center,
lol,I Was thinkin the back bedroom, nothing behind it but woods, and its the furtherest i can get away from the road,in the house, Still safe??

Hey, here is a diagram to help you figure out how many CFL's it would take to replace the MH ballast thing.
It might help a bit.

I have to tell you, I just stole it!
LOL! Have to tell ya when I am stealing from ya!
Hope you don't mind but that is a great chart. Very useful to have for teaching others. Thank you my friend. EDIT: Hooker, I am going to start a thread with useful charts like that in it. I have a couple and if you do as well, I am sure others do, this could help many to have them in one place. Thanks for the Idea!
Peace

Ive been to jail for growing weed, and it was fire what did me. Just take care of everything what needs doing and you can do no more. In England nobodys woried about heat signiture, because nobody get caught with that here, anyway youve got one light in a cabinet which is no hotter than a good heater. LOL yeah just seen the chart I had 8+600watt wow what a heat signiture that is.

I am in my first grow and using t5's from start to finish. I have two 40 watt cfl's for side lighting. Today is my 8 th week of flowering and seems like it taking for ever. Trichromes are still clear. I have two white widows and two bag seed. The buds look ok to me but this is my first grow and happy with the results. It just took more time than I expected! Next grow is a strain auto flower which will be ready in 5 1/2 weeks!

Hey Contro, CFL's can be used all the way from start to finish. Yield will be smaller just because CFLs dont put out the lumens that a MH or HPS would. Potency will be in the genetics of the seed. All the lights do is make the bud. More higher wattage lights make big bud. The potency will be the same. Kick the tires and light the fires and get the grow a goin.
