I try to stay out of the women's louge as this site already has a very high male to female ratio so I can see the need for some space. But I thought this needed to be posted here

Do we do enough to make new women members feel welcome here?

Is the male dominated language offensive?

Do guys ever seem overly flirty or bothersome on the site perhaps without realizing it?

I have no idea if this might be an issue but I thought it would be good to check in and see if any changes might encourage more woman to stay on the site. I think some more gender balance might make the generally great GP vibe even better. you know more process less solution, more communication less proving a point, more support less competition,

Not trying to be PC about this, just want to ensure every new member feels as welcome as I was


Any thoughts or am I inventing a probem where there is none.

Of all the sites I have been on, I find this THE MOST female friendly as we all make an effort. I know it is not readily obvious who the women are and I am sure a few prefer to not say they are male or female. Just the way it is.

I think it is very kind of you to ask, Scott. Again I find what a wonderful man you are. Your wife is very lucky, my friend. I am sure she knows it too.

Gender has not even entered my mind. That's a good thing. I have quit other forums because little credence was given to my opinions/experience/ideas. I have encounter outright hostility at times, even though I attempt to not 'tell anyone what to do', rather, what has worked for me -- or what I would do. There are many 'right' ways to do what we do -- different avenues to reach the same destination, though many feel it's pure blasphemy not to adhere to 'there way'. I've certainly not felt that here. Yours is a very friendly forum.

Not even considering gender is simply very comfortable. Thanks for asking...

Thanks for taking us gals into consideration.
I have not come accross a gender problem yet. I only belong to two forums for this hobby. Very nice of you to think of us.
I better post this. Sunday I was writing up a lengthy post hit a button and it was gone. it just happened again. working with a laptop in the dark. Not to bright eh!!
I find it very comfortable here.

I've been through some low personal times, as well as low moments with my grows and Man & Woman has come to my personal aid. I LOVE this site and both genders I have felt were family to me. I have always been treated with respect and I hope I have treated my fellow peeps with the same respect that I have felt.

It does not really matter what anybody is as long as we all know why we are here. The division is what causes so much confusion and hostility. If I do experience that at any of these sites then I will not come back. It's not worth the trouble.

On a more serious note, tho, this is a very user-friendly forum. In general, this is a warm community and no-one is made to feel unwelcome. As for gender being an issue, well, I've never seen any evidence of that. In fact, it's amusing to note the number of replies to the posts by females- everyone seems very eager to help!
I've joined many MJ forums and , quite honestly, most are filled with young teens. This page is refreshing for it's maturity and standards (thank you, jangel), which may help explain the absence of a "girl vs. boy" mentality here.

Yes gender should not become an issue here. There are people here, people in need, simple as that. I have never witnessed a lady being mistreated here, I would like to think that everyone is treated with due respect. If you want to meet a lady friend, there are plenty of dating sites around, this is not one of them.

Oh and snick, at my house, males dominate, so we leave the seat up, that becomes useful as you get older and are in a hurry to make it in time. lol

im not trying to start a war here... but some of the more impressive grows ive seen here were completed by women. its my personal opinion that gp is a place for everyone...young/old,female or male. we all have somthing important to bring to the table.
