Default what is the best ph meter?

I'm contemplating on getting a better ph meter. I have a hanna and the damn thing is so slow. real slow! you can not measure ph directly to a bubbling reservoir.

whats the best of the best ph meter? and how fast is the response time on it?

You want a Milwauke SM802

It is portable, so no plugging in and cords to worry about. Switches from TDS to pH, with the fastest read time of any meter I've ever used.

High.. Lee

I gave up on the Hanna combo for ph, like you say 'it's slow', I say "not as accurate" and now, only use it for temps and ec/ppms. Cleaning doesen't seem to help PH, mabe 'another' replacement ph probe.. 2nd in 3 years.. NG.. battteries new.

I am pretty happy with the oakton basic..
but use paper strips to validate once in a while and ph solutions for recalibration.. not often needed.

When was the last time you cleaned the probe, and re-calibrated it.

I calibrated it the other day. never real cleaned it. i just wash it off in water and then store it with storing solution. its always been slow. first time i bought it, it was slow. i want immediate response when i use a ph meter. other wise what the hells the point. i might as well use the drops to test the ph.

High Lee..

The meter is easier to read but you're right the drops or litmus paper work just as well.
After a time, if you grow the same strain types (Indica/Sativa/cross) you will know when the meter is 'loosing it' and calibrate
or develope a: calibrate the first of every month, routine...

I use the calibration solution to test the meter 'before' calibration to see how much the meter has gone 'off' from set point (4me>Ph5.9 DWC).

If it still reads dead on 5.9.. leavit alone otherwise> recal..

No recal of drops or paper strips.. just judgement on colors..
and sometimes my 'judgement' is impared.

I just bought the bluelab combo meter. Now I have to figure out how this thing works.
I bought mine for $250 from my local hydro shop. This thing looks like a beast. i hope it performs well.
