i like sunsystems air cooled hood and a 400w hortilux super hps for flowering. i think 1000 would be perfect. I always keep in mind that anything over 1500watts may/may not starts to draw attention to u.

I dont think it will draw much attention to me as I'm about to move so there will be no spike in electricity.

if you go for a 1000W one you should make sure that is air cooling capable at least! so it should have a flange to connect a hose to it, a window wouldn't be bad, hammer forget reflector or TiO2 pained but NO mirror finish!

if i would go for a 1000W setup then some reflector like this sun system ones would be my choice: http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/cool-s...tor-p-140.html http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/sun-sy...ude-p-750.html

sure, those are damn expansive but if this would be my money i would go for quality that lasts

I was looking at the smaller version of that reflector, the one with 6" flanges. I'm not big on all in ones with ballast built into the reflector tho

Whatever brand you decide on buying, I agree with the posters that an air-cooled is a must.

You'll also want a glass sheild too, for many reasons, one if you've ever seen a bulb explode, you'll appreciate the safety factor of a glass sheild. It's also kinda hard to air cool the bulb without the sheild.

One of my lights has the builtin magnetic ballast, and it's been pretty good to me so far. I've had it a few years now too.

I'm not gonna get into the debate of magnetic vs electronic, except to say you should research the quality of the ballast itself.

Both magnetic and electronic have high quality ballasts and cheap ones too, you want a good ballast.

Some re-sellers are buying one name brand part, than calling the entire fixture a sun systems light fixture, when in fact the rest of the components are of a lower quality than the manufacturer would use.

I had an indepth conversation about this very subject with Justin over at hidhut.com, and I can tell you to rest assured that if you do decide to buy from him, he only sells top quality systems, and he would never cheat a customer like this. Unlike some other, un-named re-sellers.

When you see a price, that is too good to believe, there IS a reason for that.
Peace

I've done research, now i'm just looking for personal preferences..what does someone have that they haven't had any problems with.
