I notice on other boards that this company gets brought up a lot but before you order you should know that when you buy their cheap brand of light setups that their bulbs have a high failure rate within the first month. There customer service is good and they will replace the failed bulb but you still have to go thru the return process and no guarantee that bulb will last any longer. If you do buy one of their kits I would suggest getting a name brand bulb with it or chance are you will have problems. Other than that they usually have a good reputation. They said they had the problem solved after the first of the year but I've talked to 2 different people in the past week that have still had similiar problems.

PN,
I've done biz with HTG for several years, bought numerous fixtures and lamps from them and never a single failure. In fact, their own brand of lamps has out performed even high end brands like Hortilux, etc.
JMHO.

i considered the 1K too, but i didn't feel that the extra $100+ was worth it for only 15-20K more lumens

Richard for my needs I am going with the 400 w hps I will have 4x4x7 tall grow area. The HTG special for $164.95 looks and reads like a good deal. It comes with both bulbs looks good. How big an area will you be flowering in?

How big an area will you be flowering in? | Well I have a few options, I can stay inside my 2.5 x 6 x 8 foot closet or my landlord would allow me to go down in the basement which means the area could be 8 x 8 x 8.
Until this morning i couldn't afford ANY lights but, thanks to the Stimulus checks given to Social Security recipients, I can now afford to buy some decent lights.
I just don't want to overspend or buy something not needed (1000 watt)

Oh, I don't know if it matters about the strains I will be growing.
We can grow up to 12 plants in Michigan and right now I have a White Widow cross.
Would the 400 be able to grow 4-6 plants ?

i have used HTG supply for about 2 years. I have a 250w MH Conversion and a HPS bulb. Never had a failure. Ever. Even running bulbs constantly (MH on 24/7 for long periods of time).

I know a guy who recently bought a 1k setup from HTG. He ordered the cheap house brand bulbs but they were out of stock for the 1k Growbright brand bulb so they sent him the Agromax Hps and the Growbright MH. They HPS was DOA so now he is forced to use the MH until the replacement HPS comes in.
I have done business with HTG, they seem like a cool company and customer service is top notch for sure. That being said there prices can be beat and i like to shop around.

I've looked with a google search and these were the least expensive I could find.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Like I said order from where you want just know what to expect when you order from HTG. They do make things right when it goes wrong. I still prefer HIDHUT, they do sponsor the board, customer service is good there also(I've never had anything go bad, just initial talks and customizing my order) and I don't hear complaints about their stuff.

Richard HidHut has a gr8t deal on a 600 w hps for $229.99 here is the link. Discount Grow Lights from Hidhut - - 600W HPS Digital Ballast, Bulb and Economy Reflector Combo
The 600 w really out performs the 400 w for just a bit more money. I may rethink my purchase for this one.

I would have loved to support HIDHUT but, I found their prices just a bit more than I could afford. Seems like always an extra $50 plus shipping and I'm soon out priced.
I decided to go ahead and place my order for the HTG system.
I think it will serve my purposes.
