Hi folks. I am on my second grow and started with used equipment, so I have a feeling that my bulbs need to be replaced. I have read a few comments here at GP about HidHut and it seems that they have certainly made a good impression on mostly all of you. Has anyone used the HidHut brand of full spectrum bulbs? Especially in the 1000 and 600 watt versions. I have used the Phillips Agrolite and like them, but they sure are expensive. Any help with bulb selection would be appreciated.

The Hortilux are supposed to be the cat's meow but that $$$$$$. I read the specs on the 1000 watt bulb and I think you would be OK using the Hut's bulb. IMO

Thanks wb456, I may give them a try. The price is so low its making me suspect that they couldn't quite be that good, but it wouldn't be the first time to find a great deal. If I do try them out I will post a review of them, or at least my opinion of them.

The lighting industry is not what a lot of people think. There are only a very few large manufacturers, sometimes selling the same bulb to several distributers with their name on them. They could very well made by the same manufacturer.

Kind of like a generic product. I think I will call HIDHut tomorrow and see what they have to say about it, if anything interesting pops up I'll post it. Thanks again wb456

True, besides chinese crap, there are only a global producers around that manufacture HPS bulbs - like we got Westinghouse, GE and in Europe Osram Sylvania and Philips. On the spec sheets their products appear quite simmilar - the only thing that differs is the price, i can get Sylvania bulbs in 400W for less then $20 but the same bulb under the Osram brand won't go for less then $45-60.

I went ahead and called yesterday morning and the sales person claimed that they put out similar light to the Hortilux, and the online description (at least for the 600w) claimed over 95000 lumens and the spectral chart, as wb456 pointed out, looks as good as the hortilux. Maybe a little less in the yellow but with a bump up towards the end of the red spectrum near 680 with a couple of peaks in the lower violet and blue bands. Well, whatever all that stuff means. I went ahead and ordered me a 600w from HIDHut and couldn't order the 1000w as they were out. I searched a bit and found Hortilux Super 1000w for $67, but they charge shipping for each individual bulb so it comes out to about $80 each. I placed the order last night, so we'll see. But I will post a review here after I receive them and give them a week or two to see how the HIDHut fares against the Hortilux. I will have a smaller amount of babies under the 600 as compared to the 1000 so maybe a comparison will still be fair.

Just a quick update. I already received the bulb from HIDHut and it is slightly brighter than my old 600w bulb. I will use it in a week or two when it is time to flower. I am very impressed at how fast the bulb got to me. I'll post again after seeing how it performs.

I just wanted to comment on the HIDHut brand 600w full spectrum bulb I purchased the first week of january has held up well. It seems to keep up with the Hortilux bulbs that I purchased at the same time. I am very happy and will order from them again.
