I bough a grow tent awhile a go from my local hydro store and love it. I bout a small one but it suites my needs. The inside in covered with mylar which I like. I have not seen that any where except at my local hydro store. Has hole at the top. I put my 4" vortex fan outside on top of my tent. It pulls air threw my light. Down at the bottom has two 6" holes also and 4 large flaps that have screen to keep bugs out. Also the flaps have Velcro on them. Also the 6" hole have a draw string attached. And lastly it came with a caring bag. I kind a wish I got a bigger one o well next time all just get another one thats bigger for the flower room and use the one I have as the veg room. This what it looks like but mine is from a different company: http://www.hg-hydroponics.co.uk/dark...r-60-416-p.asp Heres what I paid for everything needed for my grew:
Tent- $149.95
4" vortex with 10 year warranty- $168.95
4" ducting- $14.95
6" to 4" ducting- $14.95
clip fan- $24.95
400 watt light kit with ballast and air cooled hood- $239.90: bought at: http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/400w-h...mbo-p-407.html

thanks to this thread Im looking to either build or buy.
Im pricing the DR120 for 220 at my local hydro shop. no s+h fees just tax.
Im thinking 4x4 might be too large for my 400w hps.
although would be nice to have extra room in the grow area.
Anyone else use these and have opinions?

Nonny,
I've never grown in one but if the air-flow can be managed it sure looks like a wise way to go IMO.
Another 25 years, and if I'm living in a retirement home, I'll need to use something like that to keep my stash full...
Really though...it looks way cool to me and I've often thought about something along the same lines.
Be sure to check some other "styles" of these cab's too. One of our members is using refrigerator moving boxes from U-haul, and they are doing a hellofa job!

Some Street models also use slightly thinner poles and have fewer access doors than their heavy-dutier brothers.

I bought a REGULAR Dark Jardin DR120 on friday from one of the local hydro shops. $237 and change out the door.3'11" x 3'11" x 6'7"
Im stoked. The tent is up and running and I dig it!
Upon opening the box, the carrying bag looked nice, stuffed with the goodies. The bars were labeled nicely as well as seperated by bags and held tight with twist-ties.
Seemed like your typical initial tent setup for those that have had the pleasure... Bars stuffed into other bars and plastic corners here and there.
I did rush things a bit and certainly could have used a touch more space to work comfortably. In the darkness of the room, I attempted to stuff the internal frame into the outer shell without first fully unzipping the shell. MISTAKE. Had it not been 1 am, I would have paid more attention to the fact that my muscling it wasnt working... right up until the snap, everything was good. After picking up plastic shrapnel, I realized the corner wasnt completely useless and decided to test it out under load.
After finalizing the install with the 4 upper cross beams, I hung my 6" Air-Cooled XtraSun Reflector and shook the whole contraption. SOLID.
I upgraded all my ducting to 6" to take advantage not only of the new room's 6.7" inlets, but to better provide airflow for the whole process of exit ventilation. (I had been using a 6">4" reducer from the reflector to 4" ducting beacause I have a 4" high output can fan along with 4" ducting.)
Ventilation is good and the can fan is sucking hard.
So hard that the walls are being sucked in. I just put a new in/outdoor thermometer, so Ill have avg temp data in a week or so.
I am truly impressed with the ruggedness of the unit as a whole. I prefer the "car windshield reflector" material these Dark Jardin's use compared to the panda plastic I was using.
Even though there are a couple small light leaks(I will be patching these up over the next couple days) (im sure all grow tents have some leaks initially), I am so much better off than I was using the closet/velcro/panda plastic setup. I can now walk into my room and not worry about light escaping over the drapes for neighbors to see.
Im also working on a plan to replace the drapes with wood slat style blinds that fit snugly into the window space. Id like to then cover the window with either panda or whiteboard and connect 6" ducting in a sneaky fashion as to more efficiently pull outside air into the grow space, rather than the whole room and then into the grow space.
I like this so much, I plan on buying the DR80 (2'8" wide x 2'8" deep x 5'3" tall) next to use for my bonsai-moms-to-be, all the clones and some new seeds too.
If I didnt cover something you want to know, ask.

Hey Leap,
Be careful if you bought a Hydro Hut, as they had a bad batch not to long ago, where the PVC liner was not properly made and it emmitted toxic fumes, which stunted/killed plants. I'm sure that Hydro Hut has taken care of the problem and recalled the bad ones by now, but you never know, until you check with them. That is, if you have one. Hope yours is OK. Those tents sure make it easy to set up aa grow room, that's for sure.

Rep Power: 59 | | Can someone list the BRAND-NAME manufacturing companies that sell grow tents lined WITH MYLAR?? I'm having trouble finding brand-name tents & honest companies selling them... (seems like everyone has their home-made "imitations of..." for sale) I don't wanna go the cheap route & get scammed, or buy something that's gonna be a problem from the very start!
Any advise on reliable brands of grow tents (or links to the products) would be MOST appreciated !! Thanks!! :sexy:

Rep Power: 59 | | Dark Room DR120 (Street) version
Hey all,
Heard good reviews about the Dark Room tent, found (what I believe to be) the best deal on the DR120 Street version at bghydro.com , plus this website accepts Paypal payments
They have the DR120 street over 20% off while supplies last (as of Oct.24 they have 8 of them left) the price is $143.96 USD. It's listed under "clearance sale" items. Here's the link to it: Dark Room DR120 STREET- 3'11"x3'11"x6'7" | Grow Rooms
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.... surprisingly, it was cheapest for me to do Fed Ex Home Delivery (HELL YEAH- even better...brought to my doorstep, now that's what I'm talkin' about!!) It's been a few days since I ordered, but I really think it's just me being anxious! (FYI: FedEx HOME Delivery picks up & delivers tuesday-saturday).
Hope that lil' bit of info helps someone out |
