Default Dual Ballast

Hey All Looking around the othere day and ran across this dual ballest by galaxy.I have two 400 watt digtal galaxy ballest and they are still doing just find after 3 years. This dual has got me thinking. It's 250 watts each and can run MH & Hps and I called the hydro shop and asked will it run one 250 watt MH and the other a 250 HPS at the same time.Yes it will is what they said. Now that can be very useful.500 watts of light in both the blue and red spectrum.Cost is 200.00 for the ballest but the blubs are cheaper. Here's a pix. Peace

That looks good. What's the maximum watts it'll handle? Do they make them to handle 2 1000 watt lights?

well then this doesn't make any sense to me as smaller then 400W HPS bulbs got a lousy lumen to Watt ratio, same goes for small MH bulbs. why not buying a digital one that can handle both bulb types but provides more wattage so that well sized bulbs can be used? Do you really need the double outlet that bad and got no room for a second ballast? I mean, one side will be run for 12/12 and the other 18/6 anyways, and i doubt that the thing got a build in timers or dual power input for such operation.

My thinking is I can run two different veg rooms or The start of flowering before I can get them in the flowering cab.The 250w blub has 26,600 lums and the HPS has 21,500 lums. I just checked the lums of a 400 watt and MH is 50,000 and The Hps is 32,200.It will be cheaper to run and the blubs are cheaper too.For a small grow cab or small space these would be a good ballest to start. Peace

hortilux bulbs claim 55,000 lumens HPS and 29,000 MH. I know i have seen dual ballasts from lumatek that run 600 watters. I started with a 400 and it quickly became to small, I reccomend people look into 600 as the lumen per watt ratio is better then any others i know of and the heat is not to much more then a 400.

I was thinking of using the lumatek duel 600 for my vegging and running a HPS and MH over them at the same time using 2 cheap wings. I think this would make an unreal combo for vegging.

Default Just an FYI on the duel 600 lumatek

I called the lumatek company and they told me the duel 600's have a problem using hortilux bulbs. They recommend using the ushio bulbs insted. I ended up not buying the duel ballast and bought a 1000 watt setup insted.
